Currently we are in a closed window period where only Emergency Loans are permitted. After the 4th Thursday in March, no further loans will be permitted until the season is over. The only possible exception to this is the Emergency Loan of a goalkeeper.

A club can request an emergency loan in response to injuries sustained in their playing squad. Medical evidence of injuries may be sought and final permission on loans is given by Football League management.

A club’s squad should be able to provide 11 players for first team matches plus substitutes


8 standard loans (those done during transfer windows) per season is the max, 4 under 24 years old, and 4 over 24 years old. Of those 8 only 5 can be included in match day squads.

My reading of this is that we can get any number od loans we want, so the Palarse players could be on. These loans would be classified as emergency loans would they not?

ie- our squad was depleted through injuries, which i wouldnt say we were?

I am not sure that is right. Forest have just signed Boyd from Posh on an emergency loan deal and they don't have a depleted squad through injuries.....mate in office is a Forest fan.

I could be wrong though......does anyone know for sure??

This has always been the way, yet we always manage to loan 'emergency' players, as do other teams. Look at Forest and Boyd...are you telling me that the sincerely needed him as cover?

No excuse needed, tell the truth, they are not very good, they are not adding anything to the team and are disruptive.

I class this as an emergency because it could mean staying up or going down.
