Nottingham Forest sign Peterborough's George Boyd

Boyd has scored 38 goals in 163 games for Posh
Nottingham Forest have signed Peterborough midfielder George Boyd on loan until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old, who could make the move permanent in the summer, was also wanted by Middlesbrough.

And although the ex-Stevenage winger had indicated he was happy to stay at London Road, he said the lure of Forest was too strong to resist.

"I can't wait to start. It's a massive club and joining was a no-brainer," Boyd told BBC Radio Nottingham.

The Scotland B international has been a key player for Posh since signing from Stevenage in 2007, but his current contract will run out in the summer of 2011.

Director of football Barry Fry said Peterborough would like to avoid running down his contract, but will require a substantial fee.

Boyd saw his Posh club record for consecutive appearances come to an end at 144 after he missed Saturday's trip to Swansea with a virus.

Oh give it a rest Chris. Your starting to get boring now. Warnock has been here how long and already you're bitching. FFS how many games did you watch Palace this season? Victor Moses love hoofball, Scott Sinclair Loves hoofball, I could go on. Yeah Warnock loves a big lump, So fooking what but only when he was back at Sheff Utd and that was not the case at Palace. Maybe if we have a few more no nonsense big lumps with a large bunch of Kohonas we wouldn't be in the fooking position we are in now.

                    This isn't good.

Although I'm happy again, Boyd would have been a great addition.

We need a good striker. Get McLean and Ambrose in.

We really should have got him, agree with Chris that football should be played properly but warnock isn't a route 1 type of manager. He has had a lot of flair players: moses, danns, scannel, sinclair etc

in fairness to our mob its not really a priority position - we need to worry about a centre forward, full backs and perhaps a centre mid player before we sign any more wide fancy dans imho...
