  • School End?!

Some one posted a week or so ago that they may end up moving away fans to Ellerslie road so that they could have R's Fans both ends behind the goals!

Is this actually being considered or is it just someones wish list - as I reckon it would be a good idea for making the ground louder!

Are they considering moving the away supporters into the whole or just part of the Ellerslie Rd stand?

I would have thought it would be difficult to share the Ellerslie Rd stand and there are a reasonable amount of season ticket holders who might not want to be moved

Although, I certainly agree we should have R's fans behind the goal in the School End.

The original rumour posted was for them to have w and x block.

Can't see it myself, or not easily done because of the way ER is. I would much rather that the family stand is moved to ER, next to the school end... freeing up the Loft for the noise it needs to make!

It's actually very easily achievable. Far easier in terms of segregation than putting away fans in the paddock

As I stated before, the people who tend to be pro this aren't going to sit there themselves and its not like we have a demand issue re sitting behind the goal. The vast majority of fans prefer to be at the side and the loft makes ****** all noise anyway.

I don't think demand or need is key here. From a aesthetic view point, it a) makes sense to keep away fans out of TV view (this creates an image/illusion of poorly supported away teams and excellent home support - plus point for sponsors) and b) can be even more intimidating for away goalkeepers and defenders to be surrounded by home fans.

Also makes sense for the club to offer up more under cover seating for home supporters at a cheaper rate.

Villa did it two seasons back and has worked wonders.

                    Great idea IMO.

Put them in the Paddock furthest away from the loft - let them suffer the elements the poor paddock people have had to suffer during the years.

The paddock is fairly open and will not generate the noise that the Ellerslie road stand would if they were there.
Thank **ck thats all over with !!! need a holiday!!!

Directly in TV shot. Big "no-no". Looks terrible for club/sponsor purposes. Arsenal routinely get mullered for where they sited the visitors section at the new ground. Plus you then have segregation problems in SAR itself and the west paddock doesn't get close to meeting FL allocation requirements for visiting clubs.

this has been done at a number of clubs recently including Blackburn Rovers and it coincided with a great improvement in home form.

I think VIlla may have done this also.

I think it is a good idea if the away fans are kept close, like x block. We seriously need to move the family stand from the Loft though - it has totally ruined the atmosphere at LR.

Would the existing entrances in the Ellerslie Rd stand get safety approval for joint usage?

There's only one direct access to the street from the Ellerslie Rd stand, and that I guess would be used by home fans, where would the away fans enter & exit?

The upper tier (I think) of the School enters via Ellerslie rd as well.

Personally, I doubt if we'd could share the stand, just can't see how they'd engineer it, there doesn't seem to be the space.

Has the club bought some of the houses in Ellerslie Rd on the quiet?

They'd use the current Loft Upper entrance on Ellerslie and configure the hinges on the internal gate to direct the away fans into W and X. Easy. Loos and and tea bar already there. Small and cramped, sure - but these are away fans. Let them biatch all they want

You can access the School Upper from SAR as well as the Lower. All we need to pull this off really is an internal movable barrier in the Ellerslie concourse, some seg netting and some extra stewarding.
