Mourinho won the Champions League with Porto in 2004
Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho says his inside knowledge of Chelsea can help him make QPR contenders again.
Mourinho, who had a successful spell at Stamford Bridge from 2004 to 2007, said: "I know Chelsea well but that doesn't mean it will make the job at Rangers any easier.“
"Sometimes you need to accept a more difficult challenge in your working life and this is mine.
"Now that Flavio Briatore has left, the club can move forward. I am very excited about being given complete control of transfer dealings and firmly believe that I can transform this once great club."
The Portuguese gave an example of this underdog mentality citing the Chelsea side's Champions League encounters against his former club Porto in 2004-5.
"It [Porto] was my team, my players and I knew everything about them, but it was not easy as the players were good but not great players," said Mourinho.
"We won one game and lost the other one. Now, I want to come back to England and do what is seemingly impossible, I really enjoyed my time there and relish proving people wrong."
Looking forward with Inter he believes Wednesday's fixture - his first match against Chelsea since leaving the English club - holds no advantage for Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti, even though the former AC Milan manager is returning to the city where he spent most of his managerial career.

"He knows Inter very well, and has worked all his life in Italian football and played against Inter a dozen times," said Mourinho.
"I think he knows everything about us, everything about our players, but I don't think it's an advantage at all."
He predicted that the last-16 tie would not be decided by a big win in Wednesday's first leg.
"I don't remember seeing a game involving Chelsea and them going on the field to defend, or not to win, or to play for a 0-0," said Mourinho, who won the Champions League while Porto manager in 2004 but failed to land the trophy at Chelsea.
"Inter are the same. It's a game which could be 180 minutes, but it may even be 30 minutes more."
Ancelotti, who moved from AC Milan to the West London club in May, said off-the-field problems involving some of his players would not distract him from the task of beating Mourinho's side.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti "I will respect Inter Milan like I always have in the past," he added. "We respect them, but to beat them we need to play at 100%. But if they want to beat us they will also have to play at 100%."
The Italian also denied that he had claimed every neutral fan in Italy would be supporting Chelsea a gainst Inter.
"I never said this," he stated, adding: "I think Wednesday's game will be very even with two strong teams and it will be a great battle. I think Jose’s job at QPR will be a bigger battle though!"
Mourinho is expected to oversee things at QPR from afar until the end of the season when he will quit Italy for the Rollercoaster ride which is Rangers.
