I disagree, in Flavio's tenureship, not much was spent at all, especially for a team he promosed would be challenging for promotion.

I'm guessing and not 100% sure

Newcastle, WBA, Cardiff, Forest and even Swansea have spent more??

I find that very hard to believe.

Surely thats not what you are saying?

I don't know Pete. Once again I am making a supposition. However if you look at the way the club has gone about transfers it is perfectly plausible to think that he got cold feet after the first season as after that the loans intensified and the "free transfers" picked up. Perhaps he didn't realise the sort of wages that were being negotiated? Again I don't know but it is plausible.

Rsonist. You said you thought everything added up to around £4m so I don't think you can laugh at others.

Im sure Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea have spent more than us. Still doesn't mean we havn't spent a lot.

They are using one Faurlin from the official site.

The rest are wild figures plummeted from space

Connolly 1 million and Hogan £800,000:laughter:

Back up your figures with references and I will happily apologise.

I think comparing so called 'rival' championship clubs is a reasonable reply??

Unless you think we should compare ourselves to the likes of Doncaster, scunny, peterborough etc but then none of those side were living the dream of promotion.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

            • To be fair, thats not the point. (regarding premiership or European clubs)

Our season ticket prices were increased on the firm belief we were going places?? We expected millions to be spent

I'd say again look at what we sold, what we brought in?/

It was not vindicative of a club that we were sold aspirations of premiership or champions League football by 2012.

              • anyone who has visited the official website in the past few years would already know it is a sewer of crowd-pleasing spin, BS, and finessed half-truths.

i can only repeat there is NO CONCEIVABLE WAY faurlin could have cost £3.5m (unless his projected wages over his contract period were factored into it - which is an irregular practice. even then it is debatable whether that sum would reach that far). £3.5m is an astronomical amount of money to put into a second division argentinian football club - it's like if someone had bought agyemang for £15m.

furthermore even if we discount faurlin and £200,000 here or there the total club spend during briatore's tenure remains minimal.

                • according to you Pete, we spent millions, 6 million in the first transfer window;

                  • Flabio made 2 major mistakes
                    1. He didnt invest nowhere near sufficiently to fulfill the promises made and the season ticket increases.
                    2. He trusted that little crook Paladini to bring in/loan players of quality....47 players later we are left with an unbalanced squad with inferior players filling vital positions and players playing out of position to fill roles. Shocking incompetence or loads of background deals that filled his own pocket? i dont know which...either way he should be out on his ####

This argument is regarding whether we have spent a lot of money....a lot of money for this club is different to that another club may call a lot.

                        Therefore comparison is completely unnecessary.

Agree some of the players have been woeful.

We've been unlucky with some regards injuries too.

Rsonist. Read what I have written. According to the club offish the ENTIRE deal for Faurlin cost £3.5m. A fairly large outlay. No matter whether that money was on a transfer fee, wages, signing on fee or to fly in two dozen red roses before every game it is a cost the club has to pay, therefore showing that the club HAS spent a lot of money. Therefore showing that the point of view expressed by the thread starter is erronious.

                            • if people really want to try and catch pete out for spinning i might suggest they stop focusing on the exact account figures and notice what a nice coincidence it is that he happened to have "done his research" just after briatore's departure.

He hasn't shown any of his research yet. I am waiting for him to show his references.
