Given we have a game in less than 48hrs I thought I'd start a thread.

A win would mean that neither Plymouth or Luton could catch us irrespective of their results. If Cardiff lose at Sheff Utd and Derby lose at home to Luton neither of those two could catch us either.

Obviously the Championship being what it is everyone (including us) will lose/draw and mathematical safety will drag onto Monday.

I think the most depressing angle for Friday is a draw will probably suit us and PNE down to the ground. If the game is level at HT you could see the 2nd half petering out into a training exercise of keep ball with no over commitment.

I have a ticket so hopefully my pessimism is misplaced and both teams will serve up a Good Friday jamboree of entertainment and goals.

BTW.... all our remaining games are on Sky. Might be a good time to get a 1-month Now Sports pass for £30? Is a bit steep but you'll get 4 of our games plus all other stuff for 30 days. One thing, it'd run out before the play-off finals though.

It would be great to see an energetic performance and get that win to mathematically keep us up.

But I suspect it will be a borefest and we'll target a win at home to Swansea on Monday.

Doesn't that describe the last few seasons? It's getting monotonous and predictable - it can't keep repeating.

I don't think the season is over either. We have four games to put in work and effort to demonstrate that next season will be better, show some indication we will play with tempo and intent and give us a glimpse of some of the young talent. Carry some actual momentum over to August basically.

If we just "go through the motions" today and over remaining games it'll make me think that the height of the club's ambition is finishing 17th for the next decade.

I agree with allot of this post but we are where we should be based on our salary position. However we do need a playoff chase but I think with imo a very good manager in Marti and 16m from the eze deal and he will definitely be sold in the summer their is every opportunity we can have a real go if the owners roll the dice and give Marti most of not all that 16m because apart from a couple of signings we have bought well and every manager needs funds in this division

Interesting stuff... Momentum does feel important - dare I mention Leicester 2015.

The possible Eze transfer would make a difference too, but with the sizeable fee being talked about, any deal might only occur close to 11pm on 1st September.

With his reoccurring foot injury, age and current wages it would be hard for him to accept at least a 50% drop in salary. We'd have to bring him down to the £10-15k bracket. He'd get more elsewhere. We need younger players that we might be able to sell in the future. We need some of Cook's £30k a week to offer Dunne a better package.
