Unless Edwards has been told he's not guaranteed a spot at saints next year then I don't believe he will come to us whe he will have most if not all the best clubs in this league offering him a deal. Joining a club whose is with aim is to stay up won't exactly whet his appetite. If he has a decent agent he won't be coming to us. Shame but can't see it happening.
Thing is Edwards went to Southampton signed by Russell Martin who had pboro connections from his playing days but probably felt a bit loyal to the cb who got them up ronnie 120 odd games for posh 80 or so in L1 40 ish championship and 1 game for Southampton at 22 1 game for a x million pound deal or given game time liked by our fans. No idea what he’s on contract wise but I’d like to think if eze did move on yes he’d cost millions but we’ve not had a cb that comfy on the ball for years a step up from jcs plus can stay fit for more than 3-4 games
He may have a agent but he had offers to go elsewhere on loan
All this talk of signing Edwards is frankly preposterous. We cannot afford him - total cost of his ownership would easily swallow the bulk, maybe even all, of the Eze money we don't actually have yet.
Is all moot anyway. Saints may have umpteen CBs today but they will have to sell or loan some out to meet "FFP" cap. Edwards is perfect for them to keep and play regularly next season because his wages will be comparatively cheap and he has proved he's able to handle EFL with ease.
Agree with others Edwards will not sign. Was reading an article in the last week marking him out as one of a few players Southampton can build around. Totally agree, plenty good enough to play top end of Championship now and progress into the Premiership. Has real potential. Whilst I am sure he has enjoyed his loan spell and it has helped him develop we cannot compete either wages wise or competitively with other clubs who would be interested if he becomes available.
If we do get a chunk of Eze money and some of that is made available we need to try and spread it around a number of signings. We aren't a club who can spend say £5m on one player. We need to look for bargains and those with potential we can develop in the main.
Two interesting ones for me are Celar and Madsen. Celar didn't look good for a lot of games, started to come good over a few games and then got injured. Do we keep and hope the promise we saw was not a false dawn? Similarly with Madsen has not worked but in his recent run has shown a good range of passing and decent on set pieces. Thing that strikes me is he needs pace and movement around him otherwise ineffectual. Could he play well with Chair in the team? Or again do we see if we can get some of our money back?
I personally see us again looking abroad for permanent and loan signings and maybe couple of loans/permanents from over here. If we can get a loan or two of Edwards' quality would be great.

One rumour was that Celar's misses wasnt settling in London. I also seem to remember someone saying she's expecting again, and is missing her family. It might be a reason why Celar didn't settle if things weren't good on the home front. I think he'll be off.

I reckon Celar is gone. He's been out for a hell of a long time for a Hamstring strain/ tear. Have'nt seen him in any training pics or at ground on matchdays . Maybe he's gone back abroad if his Mrs is unhappy.
Unfortunately, it's easier to defend than to score 20 goals a season. Spreading the money around equally won't work if our strikers aren't good enough to score.
The reason I became a LB was because I used to get a nosebleed in front of the opposition's goal. Zero composure!
A big chunk needs to go on a decent striker who can stay fit.
A left back that we were linked with in January is Greg Taylor from Celtic , he is out of contract in the summer. If the wages were'nt too much could be a decent signing, lots of experience , good going forward and technically , his only downside is being quite small. Worth a look.

He has already signed pre-contract agreement with Dinamo Zagreb
If Plymouth go down then I'm sure a couple of their players will be available. That lad upfront doesn't look too bad? Andre.....can't remember his surname!!
As I recall, a similar thread for last seasons transfer window had well over a 1000 posts. 99% of which were either laughably bad rumours or posters naming their favourite player from another club who we had no zero chance of ever signing (whatever happened to that young Cambridge midfielder who was outstanding against us in the cup?)
Indeed I would go as far to say that some of our key summer signatures were missed completely, and we're only picked up when officially announced by the club.
I'm calling it now there's going to be over 1000 posts throughout the summer (I'll read them all, in hope/belief), most of which will turn out to be nonsense.
Well done to anyone who makes a correct call in advance of a player signing. I applaud you in advance.

I'm hearing Jamie Vardy is incoming!
Apparently the club's solicitors are the same ones that Mrs Vardy uses!! We will be paying his wages directly to her solicitor's account!!

This is very true. Was made even more tedious last summer due to a lack of "big dick swinging" between certain posters trying to be King of the ITK.... I used to like watching arguments and kicking off about who knew most!
Thing is, forum can get slow and quiet over the summer so if you strip out the gossip, speculation and "wish list" creation there'd be barely anything to read.
Maybe to make it a bit clearer, I reckon that anyone with pukka cast-iron in-the-know information should end their post with "...... don't shoot the messenger" to signal we need to take note.
