  • Wanyama

    Apparently we were after him but he opted for Dunfermline instead. This is according to the the daily record newspaper in Scotland. Sounds like nonsense to me but if true could only mean Varanes injury is serious and not just a ‘knock’.

    With Field out and Colback injury prone we have no cover in that area. Edwards will have to keep playing in that position I guess ??

    My word we have work to do in the midfield.

      Can’t see Edwards playing cm if cookie is out. Also if we tried to get wanyama madsen must well down the pecking order

      may all be smoke blowing but field out until 25/26 looks like varane must be close to same time scale

      does that just leave us colback Thomas and madsen ? With saito out chair who’s not been anywhere near full fitness maybe time to blood a bit of youth

        I don't like covering or holding midfielders - they are anti-entertainment and frankly what have they given us for this part decade?

        If Cook is injured we still have good cover at CB via Dunne, Morrison and Fox so no problem with Edwards and/or Morgan doing the dull midfield work if need be.

        Could play that trio together with Paal and Smyth as wingbacks I suppose - do you still need TWO dreary defending midfielders if you have 3 CBs in place?

        Anyway, never mind all that..... where's Kolli FFS? I'm sure if you look up "Stop-Start" in the dictionary there's a picture of young Rayan there.......

          I do like holding midfielders when;

          - There is only one on the pitch
          - He can pick a forward pass
          - The team make space and runs for those forward passes to make sense

          Michael Carrick was one of my favourite players, under dog in a way but it was clear when you look at the stats he was absolutely vital to Man Utd fergies twilight years. Would love to have a player like that.
