  • Jimmy Dunne Off?

Sounds like he is gone at the end of the season.
Just watched his press conference with Ireland and the reporter asked him about his future after this season and Jimmy's response doesn't sound good for us
    He said things like....
'He wants to play Premier League football ASAP and feels like he deserves it at this time in his career. Also he wants the opportunity to play for the biggest clubs etc. - He is very confident he will play Premier League football soon'
My guess is he would go for free too?

Free agent at the end of the season and served us well. He hasn't downed tools and is still putting a shift in. We had the chance in Jan to get some money for him and we declined so he could play for us to the end of the season.

I didn't rxpect him to stay and best of luck to him wherever the ends up. I hope he gets a mega big deal for himself and family.

I’d be surprised if a big prem club take him. He’s a thorn for oppositions going forward but defensively he’s great at heading but his distribution and pace isn’t at prem
league level to me. Hope he stays and doesn’t go to be a squad back up and is never seen again

It is incredible for a club us, always crying out for money from transfer fees to see a good player like Dunne leaving for free. Manning, BOS, Robinson, SA ... all leaving for free or less than their worth. I give up on how football is run these days.

How did you get a player to sign a contract, if they want out what can you do.

Manning and Robinson turned out to be selfish ar5eholes who forgot that qpr gave them their big chance especially manning who was playing on the local pitch in Galway.

Neither have really gone on to shoot the lights out. Robinson ended up being part of the worst prem team in living memory. Bright now plays right back in Turkey? Hardly champions league is it?

The club should be given a medal for getting someone to pay 2m for SA who prob wont even be a pro footballer in 5 years. Great lad, shocking footballer.

Shame but would have been surprised had he stayed. We are lower level Championship with wages to match. I am sure he has great affection for the club but if he is going to move up the food chain now is the time as if he signed another contract with us then he would be that bit older when that contract ends and far less likely to get the opportunities he is looking for. Got him on a free and has been a great servant. Would have been nice to have got some money for him but such is life.

Will need a full rebuild of the defence in the summer. Both full back positions with backup and probably at least two CBs and that is if Cook stays, three if not. At present we have Morrison and not a lot else. Get the right person alongside Morrison and can see him doing really well for us.

If dunne goes then fair play to him. Always gave . Did his job, earn his wages. He's an example to a lot of young players. Get your head down, don't be a d1ck, try your best, good things will come.

Hope he gets the contract and the big club he deserves. So i expect to see him lining up for Cardiff next year!!! Lol!!

If there was a decent offer for him in Yrs 1 & 2 of his contract he would have been sold. I'm not aware of any offer for him then, when his value would have been at its peak. The only offer has been six months before his deal expires and these tend to be around the £250k.

He'll get more than we can pay from a bottom six prem side or a top six championship side. As a minimum, I'd expect him to at least double his wages in the championship.

I don’t know that he is premier league class especially at right back - don’t begrudge him leaving but the grass isn’t always greener - not many have left and gone onto better things - sitting on the bench in a premier league relegation fight? Or playing regularly in a hopefully play off chasing team.

my bet is he will end up at one of the northern teams who go up or one of the ones that miss out on the play offs

Never let us down always 7/10

I’d be happy if he went to prem as he’s handful in the box and rather we didn’t have to mark him

get a proper rb in id let jcs go if a deal was offered think we would all like Edward’s back Probably won’t happen

jimmy won’t be only one off can see us being a young squad 25/26

                        I wish Jimmy the best.

Be interesting to see where he plays for another team, not sure he's a great RB but has done it dutifully for us because we needed him to.

He's good going forward but still feel he's be a better CB. The right side of a back 3. I guess that's where we'd like him too but you know, money, squad...

Jimmy’s a really interesting proposition for other clubs. He’s not a rounded full back and hasn’t had a chance to get a track record as a centre back. Suspect he’ll get a great chance as a bench warmer somewhere. Sad because he’s always done what’s been asked by us.

At the end of the day we all work for family and home life, who’d begrudge him a chance to get more money coming in?

This time last year he refused to sign a new contract and thus made his future intentions clear. The club massively ballsed up by not selling him last summer. Once again we've idiotically held onto a player (presumably for one final big promotion push) and pee'd away money. We HAVE to be prepared to sell a player when they're "hot" and under contract. Continually letting players walk away for free or peanuts will ultimately see us relegated cos we'll have no money to buy the new players we need every year.

Hopefully this will be a lesson to fans who assume players love it at W12 and will always want to stay. They all follow the money - and so they should. Whilst we continue to bump around the lower half of the table every year you have to assume EVERY player has one eye on the out door.

Jimmy has been great for us as a makeshift full back. However he went through a long spell of not looking great at cb and that was the time we could have properly cashed in looking at contract length etc. I think I remember Blackburn being tentatively linked at that time but that was about it. He was not hot when it mattered for us money wise.

Ironically when he has filled in at cb since his resurgence he has looked good. Just one of those things. Don't think club could have done much in this case.
