Agree with a lot of what’s been said.

Think we also have to keep in mind that he only just came back from injury.

I think he was rusty and should have been phased back. I would have dropped him for Wed as he was anonymous in the last game.

Now players are coming back we don’t need to be playing an 80% fit and out of confidence player.

Maybe Marty wanted to give him chance to get back into form at home, but I would have given him a rest.

That would also have sent a strong signal that the team is picked on performance not reputation.

I don’t see how he can play in the next game - we get so little down his wing teams double up on the other, making it impossible for Smyth.

I've said it many times but i think we will be a better side without him in it; or he needs to change his game, and perhaps that is what is happening.

He has been a great servant and cannot fault his effort or commitment.

But for too long we've used him as our conduit to make something happen, he's taken that on and crdit again for always trying, but he's not Adel, he's not a one man wrecking ball and i've seen so many wasted forward positions from his speculative efforts and selfish play. (perhaps selfish is the wrong word if what i've said before is true but it's what i'll use to describe not putting others in).

Yep, he's scored some great goals and won us some games, granted, and he's made plenty of assists looking at stats. But stats don't show chances wasted or assists not made.

But, and perhaps this is what Marti has asked him to do, he needs to be more of a team player, more creative.

i'm glad he's signed and i want him on the team sheet, but i want the mentality to change, we need to play more as a team.

Was surprised at this. Given his age thought he might either try and get a cut price deal in summer or see out his contract next season and then move on with more wages and decent signing on fee. Not had best of seasons with injuries but in my view would have got probably one of the bigger Championship sides or foreign team take him on.

Quite a big vote of confidence in where club are heading. With any luck some of our soon to be out of contract players will follow.

There has been talk of big money moves for years which have never materialised. At 27yrs, agro with the law and injuries perhsps he's realised that this is as good as it gets?

I hope he got a bump up in pay and we have a solid player for the next 3.5 seasons. With the negative aspects of his game he's plenty good enough for us.

Of late not at his best and not going past defenders as he used to. Would like him to lay it off and read the game a bit more. Even so still a useful player, not been the same since his brush with the law imo

He needs to release the ball instead of running himself, and us, into trouble. Same goes for Smyth. Both are capable of doing it, mind...

Wow I think everyone needs to settle down a little, seems to be the same culprits that start it all off. 1 bad result and Chair getting it in the neck. We should be celebrating that he's signed a new contract something that would have never happened if bus etc got their way and Marti was sacked. Chair is one of the better players in the division and we're lucky to have him. He is by far the best crosser of a ball and not 1 player in our squad can whip a ball like he can. Yes Smyth has had a good season and we all love a tryer but let's please get the facts right before we start questioning his form because he has much more quality than other squad players maybe minus Morgan who has been a revelation!
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Relax. Both of them are capable of releasing the ball when on form. Chair needs a few more matches in that respect and Smyth as far as he is concerned is probably a little leggy, but has improved his overall play this season.

Only saying what is blatantly obvious. Of course we want him to stay but he’s not beyond a bit of honest criticism. I’m sure he’ll get back to his previous form, can’t become a bad player overnight

I don’t think anyone is doubting his quality and ability - he just needs to start showing some of it
