Everything about him concerns me. Clear that his performances have been poor but more importantly it’s his body language and general demeanour. On any official website post (the light hearted ones) he is rude and miserable in my opinion

Time for him to shape up or get out

I’m sure the club are concerned about him as he’s clearly not settled or happy

Ah yes our latest whipping boy.

Hasn't really put a foot right has he, scored a penalty and that's it.

I'd say him not settling in is the best way to put it, doesn't suit the championship, our playing style, probably not settling in in general.

He'll be off in the summer.

Hopefully he'll be off in Jan if we can do any deals that include full backs. He doesn't have the engine or urgency in his play to succeed in the championship.

What do you mean that he’s our latest whipping boy. My post didn’t suggest that. I’m genuinely concerned about the bloke

Agree Mem, Tops hasn't worded that in the most appropriate way.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I don’t think he’d get in the dog and duck pub side at present

no idea what we splashed out on him can’t be 4m as others suggest. Doubt he’ll move on in January either just lacks to much of a bit of everything pace, aggressive movement etc

Well I’m not surprised but 50k a month when a kid from spurs keeps him out starting line up

4m euros we’ve had our pants pulled down

I'm sure you are concerned for him, not saying otherwise.

Who knows how much football fans in general have to do with a player settling in, but we (fans in general) have a habit of picking a player and using them as an excuse for poor performances, usually it's warranted because that player will have been poor. At the moment, each and every match thread where Madsen plays, he gets called out. Up and down the country it's the same with other players and this club, this forum, is no different. It's a pretty consistent list of players that have at some point been the 'one'.

Not being mean, it's just what's currently happening. It'll be someone else next.

Sometimes I feel "criticising" a player can be counter productive and unjustified. In Madsen's case however....

This is why CR has decided not to disclose any transfer values anymore. If a player comes with a high price tag the resentment will be greater when performances are poor. If Madsen was a £100k signing he would have been considered a squad player, and the groans less. We haven't had vslue for money from him yet, for sure. But in Belgium he was a regular scorer from midfield and probably justified the transfer fee we paid. Something's not right, but surely the Belgium top tier has to be on par with the championship?

It's widely acknowledged that the championship is one of the toughest leagues in the world, no?

I know nothing of the Belgian top tier, it's probably like most European leagues outside of Spain and Italy, where afew top teams do ok and the rest sruggle, in that sense it 'sounds' the same as the Championship, except that every year we get those top teams rotating out.

Be interesting to see where championship clubs would end up in these Belgian, Dutch, French, Scandinavian leagues, would probably surprise us just how competitive we are on the European stage.

This all comes relatively soon on the heels of the Taylor Richards debacle though. We simply can't be wasting a significant chunk of our limited budget like this. We haven't made any significant sales in past couple of years so lord knows how we're affording this level of folly. I can see a bizarre situation arising where we have to accept a bid for young Morgan just to maintain the installments for Madesn's fee.
One thing... he can't help his looks and personality. He might be one of those players like Ozil or Berbatov who always looked a bit dour, glum and detached. Not fair to judge him based on Saturday's outing in the fog either, so far he's played mostly in a struggling winless team - I would like to see how hs fares now our form has picked up.

Well, I think the Championship is the fourth most commercially successful in Europe, certainly from a viewing perspective.

I dont know a lot about the Belgium league, but Westerlo, where Madsen came from, got an average attendance 6,387 for season 23/24, and this season they're currently 13th out of 16 teams.

Gent are currently in 6th and have have an average attendance of 14,563 for the same 23/24. By income alone we'd should be 4-8th in the Belgium Pro League.

With average crowds of 6k, you'd think Westerlo threw a big party when we gave them €4m for Madsen.

Just a thought: Not sure Cifuentes has found his best position on the pitch yet? ... No doubt he has to show more that we have seen this far and his body language is mostly negative.
