Coventry have just shown Robins the door.
It isn't working under Marti , our league position doesn't lie.
If nothing changes we are going down , what do you all think about Robins as a manager.

Amazed at the decision to sack him, zero loyalty shown to him. He'd basically turned around a basket case of a club, into a team that was often mentioned in the last couple of seasons, just missing out on promotion and an FA cup final along the way.
Okay they have been poor so far this season, but I would have thought they'd give him at least until Christmas.
Could do with smiling occasionally though.

Why would Robins want to come to us and "coach" a squad put together by a kid who thinks he's still playing Football Manager?

Interesting. Thing is, if you point out how shite Marti is and we need to get shot of him, his apologists immediately come back with "...and replace him with?"
At least now I could say Mark Robbins. I suppose there will be several more sackings this month so there will be plenty of alternatives for clubs AND managers.

Can we afford to sack him after his contract extension? Spare cash would be better spent in the squad if we can find someone who can understand what is needed in this league.

We won't sack Marti if for no other reason he has just signed a new contract, as Sheep points out. Would be expensive and make the club look very stupid. Anything is possible in football but I have no expectation he will be sacked anytime soon.

If we were looking for a new manager Robins would be a good option.

I have been thinking about managers in the last few days and i honestly don't think any decent managers would come here , i believe we would have to employ a relatively unknown manager and hope it works out. I do believe we need to get rid of Marti , not just for results but his style of play , we are so boring and lack a pattern of play other than to sit deep , pass around between the keeper and defence then lose the ball. Even most of the games we won last year , we scraped the win and looked a poor team , bar the West brom and Leeds home games where we had a desire and looked a good side.
I would be happy with Mark Robins, he's done well at Coventry , signed some good young players , developed them and sold them for a big profit. Gyokores, Hamer and O,hare .

What I see of the Millwall game last night they run themselves into the ground .
our players are not doing that under the present manager.
What we lack in skill we've got to make up in fight/ effort that's sadly lacking under Marti.
Maybe we need a manager that can bring this with him .

Didn't Les want him but Coventry refused us permission to speak to him?

As sheep points out he's on a new deal we would look stupid but let's be honest we've done plenty of daft things lately only have to look at some of the signings.

Has Marti become a bad manager overnight probably not but imo he's not setting us up to attempt to grab a match by the neck from the off its all reactive and that's my gripe with him along with playing the inept Santos Celar and so on, fair enough were missing Colback JCS Dembele but ill put hands up and admit when rumours of going in summer etc I didn't want him to go as felt he was right guy and we had a good one I have put in match threads etc time to go would Robbins get more from this squad maybe but once we went 2 down V boro we did fight on Dieng made saves so players still believe in him were not that far adrift but id like to see us commit a bit more forward

Come on Marti get your Rs into gear and get us going again 3 wins pre xmas will keep us in touch and sort the recruitment debacle on in Jan

What's mad about this current situation is we were doing well.

Yeah sure teams go through dips and troughs, but this is a pretty big rot, it's like Marti has decided to play this way for no apparent reason. It makes no sense, he's digging his own grave.

                      I agree.

What happened between the end of last season and this one so far?

Why was it allowed to happen, and how can we get back to where we were?

I think that Marti did not have any or very little say in the signings and loans made by Nourry. Its Nourry that should go.

Maybe people are reading too much into a couple of comments from Marti, but it would make sense.

Nourry has played Football Manager and used stats rather than scouts, advised by numbers not by the coach.

If true, it's not worked at all.

Marti does not have a worldie CV of success, but he's a better coach than the displays we are putting out.

Players need to fit into a style of play, gaps on the pitch and, importantly, a squad, a dressing room. These signings looked good on paper but if Marti had anything to do with them other than perhaps saying hey Christian I need a striker, then he's as naieve as Nourry. He's obviously had at least some say.

But, i say again i don't think the heart was ripped out of this team over the summer, the players lost of note were Begovic, Hayden, Willock and Dykes, the rest were bit players. We do have injuires to Chair and Colback also, to be fair.

Willock has been replaced by Dembele, he's a good player.

Dykes has not been replaced, his work rate was high, but we as unlikely to score without him as with him.

Asmir is a big loss, we need to get Joe Walsh in, i'm not confident with the French lad in goal, he's a flapper and he's not learnt how to communicate with our defence in my opinion.

It is in Marti's power to field a team close to last year, as soon as Dembele is back, put Walsh in goal, Frey will also play a part, Saito is a decent addition, and Colbak will be welcomed back, Varane has potential.

I don't want to ditch Marti, i really think he's good, just FFS stop complicating things, look at whats not working and fix it instead of trying to create something you can't. If you've been given the wrong players for the style of football you want to play, change the players or change the style.
