  • Anybody know???

Does anybody here have any insider information on what Marti says to the players regarding general instructions and particularly just before the off. Our start to yesterday's game was, to me, unfathomable, setting an undesirable tone for the whole game. Is he telling them something odd or are they generally just not up to it?
    Thank you

My understanding is it is along the lines of the following:

    1. Stand very still.
    2. If the ball comes to you either pass it backwards or sideways but never forwards.
    3. Under no circumstances is the ball to be put into the opposition's box. The grass must be kept in tip top condition at all times.

Personally I think the players are great at following instructions.

I'm a bit hazy but didn't we start with the ball going backwards and then launched long (by Nardi....?)

Whatever the actual play was, I remember thinking even Ainsworth would have got absolute pelters for that phase of play.

Are you suggesting that perhaps Marti has lost the players?

Not sure any more. Lost the players/the plot???
Like most of us, I admit to being bemused by what is going on. My post was written hoping that somebody knew what Marti says and the tone/mood being set. Either he is saying the wrong things or the players are incapable or, as you suggest, Marti has lost them.

It's very difficult to blame the manager. You're all missing the fact that he had an on fire willock to call upon and bring back into the side. Players that genuinely make a difference with real ability. Can deliver quality balls into the box whilst using both feet. Too many on here were happy when he left but you can blame the manager as much as you want but the players aren't up to standard
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

League one not a positive attitude to have but honestly watching us play this badly for so long now just to go to a game and not be second best every time would be a welcome breather

You have to question the clubs decision making in the summer how much did Willock want or be honest and say he didn’t want to be here. The funds we did spend let’s be realistic it’s been a disaster we all know who’s not up to it so no point dwelling on that there here end of matter

my gripe is the approach to games it’s don’t lose don’t lose oh bugger weee 2-0 down then we compete that’s not good enough

can we stop up honestly doubt it from what we all watch is marti the right guy for me I’m not fussed if goes, but imo he needs to be honest and at least try to win games v 10 men we still don’t commit to winning and that’s not acceptable

Willock is not pulling up any trees in Cardiff. They are definitely not impressed with him. One goal and one assist in 13 games which all came in one game. He went for the money not to play football.

I don't give a f uck about what he's done at Cardiff. I'm judging him on last season when Marti brought him back from ainsworth reserves. The style of play suited him and he excelled. Shaggy some good points you've made however.

Lots of teams doing it now. Rule change where one player takes kick off and can pass back. Coaches exploiting it. Two reasons.

One player takes kick off. You have additional player in better position to attack long ball.

Quicker to get ball forward, catch opposition cold.

Brentford did it recently, quick goal.

I personally felt he wanted away and a change of scenery. If he felt the love for us it would have taken £15k a week to keep him (His Capology listed Cardiff wages). Who know what our offer was to him, but he rejected it. But yeah, a fired up and fit Willock would be better than Madsen & Cellar and a few others. Still didn't think he wanted to be with us anymore.
