Players don't play through any pain barrier that might end up shortening their careers whilst earning circa £500k per year plus. They want to max their earning potential. Miraculous recoveries can happen six months before their contracts expire too. I suspect it's a job for most and the love of the game went many years before. They know they're in a meat market. The days of pain killers and crippled 40yr old ex players have gone.
