He is probably a very good player, could the problem be the Championship is played at a must faster pace and far more physical than he is used too, raw meat and iced baths are then required.

Infact, Derby’s second goal proves why tippy toe football is wrong, a mistake by Madsen and Paal, two touches from them and they score.

So if tippy tappy isn't the answer and Gareth's style isn't the answer......can someone explain to me what is?

When i played as a LB, I was always told to clear my lines when under pressure. Get the ball upfield and away from danger. It was rare for me to put leather through the ball, but it was played out to Left Mid or a ball into space for the winger to run onto as quickly as possible. Playing neat triangles around your penalty box was, and still is, plain daft. Keepers didnt hoof the ball upfield, theyd pass the ball to one of our players and we'd rarely lose possession from a goal kick.

I'd rather watch the football from the 70-80s than the shite we get given today. Too many lower league players trying to play like top end champions league teams.

I’ll go with Gordon Jago or Dave Sexton’s style’s, failing that Warnock’s, infact anything than the crap we have played for the last couple of years.

Possession should only be counted when in the opposition half, that would concentrate a few coach’s minds.

Warnock for me as he got the whole team working for each other. With slow paced tippy tappy, it must be easy to get into a training ground drill type trance, and when concentration levels drop mistakes happen. I think players are overcoached with set plays and phases etc.

Get them on the pitch and let them work it all out and concentration levels will improve and sloppy errors reduced.

I dont think the formation will change, Marti isn't leaving any time soon and we won't be getting relegated either. I'm sure we'll end up 12-16th.

Transfermarkt suggesting we paid €4m for Madsen and signed him on a 5yr contract. We don't discuss information like this anymore so not sure where they got this from. But quite alarming if true.

Nicolas Madsen, 24, from Denmark ➤ Queens Park Rangers, since 2024 ➤ Central Midfield ➤ Market value: €3.50m ➤ * Mar 17, 2000 in Odense, Denmark

If we’ve paid 4m EUR for Madsen & a similar amount for Celar we’ve had our pants pulled down. That money surely could’ve been invested in top tier league 1 talent or a couple of seasoned Championship pros. Clearly not the “model” the club are pursuing.

Celar €2m but no contract information if you click into his name

Far too early to be so dismissive of him. Few players enter new clubs running and this chap has joined a club with little confidence and a manager the methods of whom, are still a worry.
If we can build on the last game I'd like to believe he could adapt and be an asset. I know he hasn't looked anything at all so far but I think he must have been astonished at what was going on around him. Let's be charitable and give the man a fair chance! My usual last comment on every post. Don't pick Paal!!

Smyth put 2 decent crosses in and celar no where to be found , don't think he'll get another look in when Frey is fit.
Celar can't win a header or kill a ball .
He hasn't had many quality balls into him but when he has he's found lacking.
Thought Alfie Lloyd put himself around far better than celar .
Madsen I can't make a case for , the game seems to pass him by

                      Looking at a list of Championship strikers with an estimated market value of less than 4m euros, the first four that come up below that are;

                      Brandon Thomas-Asante 3.8
                      Vakoun Bayo 3.7
                      Ronald 3.5
                      Jerry Yates 3.2

That's the type of player that Celar's £2m needs to be compared to. Would we want those? Would we be happy to pay for those? That same site rates Celar at 2.2. I think this shows broadly where we're fishing. It's not where we want to be, but it is where we are.

We could've taken a chance with someone like Langstaff for £0.75, I guess.

Madsen was dire at Derby & against Portsmouth think Marti had no choice but to leave him out, looks well off the pace of the championship can't remember him making a tackle in any game, seems to be a passenger and the game just passes him by,

Alfie may and Leo Gregory both better than celar both play in lower divisions than us .

I’m guessing that Alfie May’s age was a factor against him, if he was even considered - the fee was undisclosed to Brum. It certainly looks like our strategy on acquisitions is early to mid twenties. Which makes a lot of sense if a player turns out well for us. Big if.
