I thought Rangers B team put up an excellent fight against a full strength Palace.

First 20 minutes looked ominous as we couldn’t get the ball, we slowly worked our way back into the game, although managed to concede a soft goal that Walsh should have saved.
Second half was much better, cracking goal from Field and Rangers on the front foot.Eze then scored from a heavy deflection which deflated us a bit.

However we regrouped and came back at them with Lloyd inches away from equalising.
Palace are a one man team, take Eze out the team and they are bang average, he makes them tick.

Promising performances from Saito and Varane, Madsen needs a rocket up his #### to liven up.
Overall a pleasing performance, although I would rather have nurtured Santos than Ashby who looked bang average.

Special mention for that Palace Ultras, they really are a bunch of ######s who sing childish, moronic songs, quite embarrassing.

It must of been the only header he won all night , usually ducks when the ball comes at him

I think celar will be ok once chairs back he’s a ball to feet player had some nice touches but isn’t strong enough to hold ball up

I’d of took madden off too slow on it or moving it Edb looked better than him.

palace as Romford says they lose Eze I reckon they’ll do well to finish out bottom 6 he’s all they have along with guehi bit like Paul Parker not biggest but reads game well

Because the match thread is mainly people not at the game, I do a quick report on the game while coming home, if it is merged I wouldn’t bother.
Some people prefer a quick match report.

Good game. Very good atmosphere. We gave it a go rather rolling over like some teams have done in the past. Chair will make a huge difference when/if/possibly returns.

Not sure where madsen is best. Seems to be on the periphery a lot of the time. Is he a box to box player? Not sure. Is he a number 10? Don't think so. He has quality, doesnt panic but needs to get more involved.

Celar looks completely lost. If you're not gonna score then you need to offer something. He just seems so easy to play against. Guehi had a training run out tonight until Lloyd decided to have a crack! Can't see what celar brings if he can't score a goal. He's not quick, gets knocked off the ball easily, has a poor first touch, won't jump for the ball, doesn't seem to want to run the channels or even drop short for the ball.

I would give Alfie a chance up top next time as celar just doesn't offer the threat we need at the moment.

I too enjoy Romfords 'on my way home'. Always to the point, informative, interesting, brief and balanced.

On one hand I'm happy that we can compete with a prem team with our b team - I think it bodes really well.

On the other hand, its such a shame most clubs can't invest too heavily in trying to go deep in these cup comps - I get how important league position is but it's a bit sad.

As you can see from his title Romford is the MBs Match Reporter and has been doing this for years. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't continue with both in-match & post-match threads. I also enjoy reading his overall analysis.
