Another typical fan trying to see how far they can climb up Connollys orifice
Connolly was poor in centre midfield yesterday, I have been asking for him to play in midfield for a while now (check back on my threads) but he didn't seem to play the holding role well and drifted out of position too much. Didn't protect our fragile defence in the same way Gavin Mahon does and in the first half barely put a foot right other than a nice through ball to Simpson which was actually the wrong ball to play as he should have squared it to Buzsaky who was in acres, he did improve in the second half but I would give him 6/10 at best.
A better team would have completely over run our centre midfield yesterday.

A better team would have completely over run our centre midfield yesterday.Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
And many more mistakes

Harford made some strange decisions yeterday.
Took Ramage off then put Connolly right back.Taarabt then went into midfield,so we had two left wingers on the pitch. Then Connolly got injured and Borrowdale came on and we had two left backs on.

Ok I'll tell what my problem is.
Fans posting crap like the original poster,
'Connolly was immense'
**** me define immense because Connolly was ineffective yesterday, was caught out of position constantly, passing was poor and he didn't protect the back four. Connolly seems to be the one player we have who is overated to the point by fans that can see no wrong in his performances regardless of how in plays.
I think Connolly is decent and hope he is here for years to come but if I'm totally honest since the lad has signed for us I haven't seen much progress in his game at all though I appreciate he has suffered some setbacks particularly his bout of glandular fever. All that aside since his return I haven't seen one outstanding shift, just being honest not trying to **** on golden boys party but thats truth.
As far as I'm aware myself and SPC were the only 2 posters a while back calling for Connolly to be moved to midfield and it is a role I still believe he can play given time. By describing his performance as immense is misleading to those supporters who didn't go to match and is such a typical response from the Connolly fan club.
In terms of immense performances in the past couple of seasons I have seen a few from Gorkks and Stewart under Sousa and Mahon turned in a couple this season but lets get some perspective people and stop talking ******.
As for Connolly playing CM, I'd keep him there and see if he can adapt as its a position I feel later on in his career hell probably play though maybe better suited to a 5 man midfield......its good to have versatile players and MC is one of them.Last edited by W12_Ranger; 21-02-2010, 08:44 PM.
