If the reports are true and he was screaming when he went down and the fact he needed to be stretchered off, then he's probably done his ACL and we won't see him until March.

I thought the same and it instantly reminded me of Ruud Van Nistelooy who went down in similar circumstances which delayed him joining MU for a year. Wasn't that in training prior to the Euros?

Yeah a very similar situation. I'm not sure if it was before the Euro's, but I remember it well.

Frey looked promising in early appearances. It seemed all he needed to do was shake off his rustiness and settle in. Bit weird and disappointing how he just faded out of things but I remain hopeful he could use a full pre-season with us to properly bed in and hit the ground running in August.
Who knows, could be Frey and Kohli spearheading the attack next season.

Just checked and he got injured during a PSV training session in April 2000 which ruled him out of Euro 2020. Still, the comparison is spooky the way he went down and the way the Dykes situation had been reported. A "freak injury" doesn't sound good when there's no contact.

I agree, but here's is hoping he will eventually come good, because his instincts in front of goal looked promising when he was in the team/squad. However, to be honest I think we will buy at least one additional striker this preseason.

I remember when Danny Cipriano done his ankle in a match - his foot was pointing 180° the wrong way, horrific! Can't remember exact timeline but he was back ridiculously quickly, I'm sure it was 8-10 weeks. Maybe it won't be as bad as it sounds for Dykes?

My thoughts exactly, I don't see us in an ACL territory. The only concern would be if the achilles snapped. But I doubt there'd be hope that he'd still join the squad as some sort of mascot if he had that injury....?

We really do need a club update on this to put an end to this guessing..........

He scored one ok goal with his head.

No smoke without fire, the lad is a problem or he's just bang average. Probably both. At least he certainly ooks bang average.

There is 100% a player in Dykes, just needs the right line up, not a great player, just someone that's better than the abuse he's gotten here. Hope it's not too bad for him, his commitement and desire can't be faulted.

I'm sure treatment is top of the list and has started. After that I suppose it's just rest and recuperation until he's healed enough to exercise. How and where he spends that R&R time is kind of irrelevant and it's more important he keeps his spirits up so if we wants to hobble about with the Scottish lads I cant see what the problem is. Don't forget, all our non-Euro players are currently swanning around the Caribbean or UAE judging by their insta feeds - all players should be resting now.
