  • Dykes

He's injured and a doubt for the Euros.

As long as he's fit during the transfer window it's fine with me. Better to be injured for a tournament than come back injured.

Wasn't he out for quite a few weeks at start of the year, knee injury I think. If he's done his knee again it would be a red flag to buyers this summer and would require him to get fit and put in a run of weeks/months of playing before interested parties would resurrect their interest - basically it could banjax any possible move this window.

Beyond that I want him to play at Euros. One goal scored there would resonate more than 6 goals scored in Championship. Would just take one barnstorming performance and a goal for Scotland to make a LOT of suitors sit up and get keen.

Officially withdrawn from the Scotland Euro squad. No news on the injury but one article suggested it was his knee??????

Awful luck for the guy. Hope he recovers quickly and comes back flying for pre season. Best of luck Lyndon.

Doesn't look good when they say he yelled out and lay on the floor. Hope it's not an ACL injury becauae he'd be out until Xmas. Scotland didn't release any details of the injury but I hope the club does soon.

Dykes always seems to get crocked when he's with the Jocks!!!

Without wishing to sound too hard-hearted it's good it occurred on international duty as SFA/EUFA will cover 100% of his wages for up to a year whilst he's injured.

I read that’s not the case and they only cover the medical treatment. Club still has to pay wages

Reads to me like its covered.

                  Page 7:
                  a) Purpose The programme will provide compensation (based on the player’s fixed annual salary) for football clubs in the event that “A” representative team football players participating for their association suffer a TTD (temporary total disablement), which lasts for more than 28 consecutive days, as a result of bodily injuries caused by an accident.

                  Page 8
When are the football players covered? The football players are covered whilst under the control of the respective member association for official international “A” matches of the “A” representative team, including all playing, practising, training, training matches, travelling and time spent away. Club protection starts from the moment the football player starts his journey from his home or football club address to report for duty with his association and ends at whichever of the two following options occurs first: at midnight local time on the day he returns to his home or football club from international duty, or 48 hours after leaving the “A” representative team, including direct unbroken travel (“operative time”).

                  Page 9:
What compensation does the programme offer? The programme compensates football clubs for up to a maximum of EUR 7,500,000 per football player per accident. The maximum of EUR 7,500,000 is calculated at a daily “pro rata” compensation of up to EUR 20,548 (1/365), which is payable for a maximum of 365 days. The maximum daily compensation is limited to EUR 20,548 per accident. The maximum capacity (“aggregate limit”) of the FIFA Club Protection Programme is EUR 80,000,000 per annum

I knew we'd be covered but wasn't totally aware of the "cap". That cap might bite if Dykes was out for ages, maybe 9+ months (I can't be assed doing the maths plus I'd be guessing his wages) but we should be okay.
I suppose the cap makes sense... If someone like Haaland got crocked whilst away with Norway he'd bankrupt the federation within weeks.

To be fair to Dykes and I’m far from his biggest fan but he did ok last few games couple of goals and compared to Frey Lyndon looks like Maradona. Which to be fair most of us look like a pro player compared to Frey

Was hoping he’d have a decent euros and move on admittedly but hope he gets fit for season now

Talking about Frey can we get shot of him? I thought we only signed him until the end of the season. Bloke went completely missing when we desperately needed him. Thank god that our other signings brought in some quality maybe minus the wolves lad which was a bit disappointing but a free hit
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Frey was signed on a 18 months contract I think. Not sure we have seen the best of him. Two out and out wingers could make the best out him, mind.

                            €7.5m is about £6.4m.

At £20k a week for a year we'd need £1m of that cap. If it ended his career we'd need another £2m which is his transfer value.

At least we'll get his summer wages covered and I'm sure he'll be back around Sept. Eagerly awaiting injury news from the club though. Hopefully just standard ligament damage.

This is really helpful. Sorry I got it wrong. At least this way we can go out and find another striker so whilst it’s bad news it’s softened because of the insurance
