  • FA Cup

So replays bounced. A shame for lower tier clubs that can really make a name for themselves and some serious cash. There are too many games for top teams (even us if we have a cup run and it does mean added costs to build a squad for rotation, i guess that's part of being successful.

Side note, if we can't get a result against PNE, lets get behind Coventry against Man Utd, they will not give a flying F about us if they are in the final of the FA Cup, and if they lose, well they'll probably try and take it out on us.

If the EFL got its fair share of the money in football it wouldn't have to hope for cup runs/replays.

As for us, our cup runs normally only last 90mins anyway.

The EFL has received more from the Oremier League to compensate for the lack of replays. I'm not sure why this is needed though as the big clubs should be allowed to play their U23 in the early rounds. The romance of the FA Cup is a myth, it's just a normal cup and mainly a distraction to relegation or promotion games. But maybe being a Qpr fan has got me thinking this way. I'm sure Coventry fans will think differently.

Clubs shouldn't need Cup bailout money. Budget to what you can afford on the basis of no cup runs.

All the talk is about money, what about fans who are being potentially robbed of watching their teams take a big club to a replay?. Stinks, the sooner the so called top clubs leave for Europe the better in my opinion

The only thing that will stop the remorseless march of EUFA club competitions obliterating the EFL and The FA is a group of clubs breaking away and forming their own Superleague.

Even got tried but dumbass idiots went mental about "saving football", football must remain controlled by a bunch of money-grabbing suits and accountants in Switzerland.

So, those that "saved football" are seeing the results of their efforts filtering through..... hugely expanded European club competitions, international breaks every 5 minutes and a complete impossibility to shoehorn our domestic programme into that calendar.

The game we all grew up loving died a long time ago, this is what we now have I'm afraid. It's football, but not as we knew it.

? I thought they were pretty duff and one-dimensional - they've got nothing that could remotely trouble our back-line so the clean sheet is ours to take. Not really impressed with their defence and their keeper is really puny, I reckon Asmir was bigger than him when he was only 7-years old!
Even if we needed to win the game by 5 goals I'd feel very confident.

As ever all about the money and soul being ripped out of football that little bit more. Replays both financially and from a footballing perspective have added significantly to the competition over the years. Will be benefiting the big clubs at the expense of the small clubs.

Very sad really. Used to really enjoy FA Cup, League Cup and various European trophies. League Cup has been devalued to such an extent now is of no interest and FA Cup lost it's spark some years ago. European trophies again have suffered, was far more exciting with more limited participation and knock out ties. Used to watch a lot of European football as a neutral. Now you have these tedious leagues before you get to knock out and for me is of little interest now. Too many games, too many teams and all about the revenue. Why should clubs get excited about trying to get fourth place in the Prem so they can lose some games in Europe the following season? European Cup should be champions of respective countries period save the previous year's winner should automatically get a place. UEFA Cup maybe second to fourth max.

Surely removing replays givens smaller clubs more chance to progress? Only needing to beat the big club once and more games decided by penalties?

I don't recall to many times replays didn't end up with the bigger team winning but maybe it's because I've not been able to care about the FA cup in years.
