Apparently, five clubs are after JCS. Three from the Premier and Celtic and Ipswich. This is a dilemma. JCS was undoubtedly one of our best players this season and it will be a big disappointment if we loose him. However, there must be a fee in any deal as he is contracted until 2026. If we are safe, with Marti in charge, next season we can push up the table and you'll never know!

Sell him if we get offered silly money. Our biggest mistakes in the last few years is not selling better players when they are playing their best football. If we turned down a big bid this summer and he is back to being injury prone next season we won't ever be able to command a big fee for him again..

Hes been very good but hes definitely replaceable.

Its very basis of us becoming self sustainable again. Would also sell dykes and if he scores a couple in the euros then he will have clubs looking at him. Especially ones across europe. Same goes for Chair who really deserves a big move. He's been a great servant for us.

If we do sell him a good replacement would be Helik from Huddersfield good defender and scores plenty from set pieces.

        Agree with this post.
The only stumbling block , i can't see Dykes getting a game at the Euros let alone scoring a couple of goals . Nobody is going to buy him but would love it if we could sell him.

Good shout . Helik is a good defender at this level and scores quite a few as well.

            Convert Dykes to a CB.

Selling a sellable Asset in JCS and replacing with a non-sellable asset in Helik (29 soon), is not part of the clubs strategy. Helik is also a right footed CB. If we sell, we will replace with a younger version of JCS.

It's funny because he could be quite good there.

Sell JCS, a very good player when fit but selling players is what we need to do. Not rip the spine out of the squad, but losing JCS and Chair for example, should be seen as par for the course each year while we build. If we were to sell Field and Willock in the same window, that would be bad busines.

After the Jan window, and to an extent the last window of GA's tenure, i have alot more faith in our scouting. Not 100%, I can't get on board with Frey.

Sort of true but an old war horse CB who knows the division on a sensible wage isn't a bad thing. We can't have a squad purely of 15 up and coming saleable assets, there has to be some steady, older, "safe hands" dotted about the team to maintain continuity as we recycle the bright young things. With Cook on the books I agree it would make more sense to replace JCS with a JCS Mk.2 though.

Only came to me because I read that Kenny Burns was a CB, played CF with Brum and when he signed for Forest, Cloughie put him back to CB. You also have John Charles who would play CF and CB in the same game for Juventus!!

I think Dykes has the attributes to be a better CB than he can ever be as a CF.

Palace in pole position to sign him. This is his only season that's he'd done it for us so I have no idea what he's worth.

If he going to the premership then surely they'll have to pay at least £10m. Could we get £20m???

Anyone know of any sell on clause to Chelsea?

Can't have sell on clause. Contract expired at Chelsea. We signed him as free agent.
