Have we really missed him? Not sure. We have not covered ourselves in glory recently and l can’t say I’ve enjoyed seeing the club not at its best. But lm going on Saturday with a new mindset and confident we can improve. It’s in our hands still. Though only for a limited time

I know one thing our departed so called DOF deffo lumbered us with one there, how we were made to have a clause to have to buy for £500K is unreal WELL DONE Les,

Surely in situations when you have a player on long term sick leave, FFP should take this into consideration and allow us to remove his wage from the books?

The loan bit was all smoke and mirrors to wriggle through FFP hoops - it was a "loan" in name only, he was never going back to Brighton. It was actually buy now, pay later. It was the only way we could get him in and not breach FFP limits.

The irony is despite our "clever dickery" with the deal structure, we ended up with a non-player.

Still, hindsight is a wonderful thing and I can't recall anyone actually rubbishing the acquisition of Richards at the time he joined

We were led to believe loan with option to buy.

Thought meant we could buy at agreed price If he performed.

I'd give him a cleaning job at the training ground , make him do something for his money.

He'd had a promising loan spell with Doncaster and to be fair every manager we have had save for Marti has spoken about him in almost glowing terms. However something has obviously gone horribly wrong which sadly happens. Any number of examples if duff signings with the best of clubs.

From latest podcast of West London sport it sounds like all the clubs in this country have agreed to steer well clear of Mr.Richards.

It's like they all know hes a wrong un and a waste of space. We clearly didnt do our homework and are now left with this clown being paid very well for 4 years for doing f all.

This is what the club wrote at the time of his signing:

TAYLOR Richards has returned ‘home’ by joining QPR on a season-long loan from Brighton with a view to a permanent transfer

The attacking midfielder has joined on a season-long loan from Brighton. All being well, the 21-year-old's move will become a permanent one

I think this was words to cover the fact that this was a loan with an obligation to buy. However, they might not have been able to state it that clearly, as the reason for the special arrangement was to come around the FFP limits we had in 22/23. By postponing the acquisition by one year (buy now, pay later), they could push costs/amortisation to subsequent seasons.

Richards is obviously having serious mental problems. I think this is much more common in football than we are aware of. 99 out of 100 young talents never make it. Being on the payroll of Manchester City as a young man creates enormous expectations, and I do not find it hard to understand that some might get mental issues when these high expectations are not met. While it certainly hasn't helped, I do not think the death of a close friend is the main reason for Richards problems. The reason is the enormous disappointment connected to failing to deliver on a career that looked so promising at one point in time. He might well be disposed for depression in the first place. These things are often as much linked to genes as anything else.

As much as it frustrates the #### out of us fans, I think we shall let QPR and Richards get on with whatever they try to do to sort the mental issues and get the lad back on the pitch. Some "gentle" information from the club to stop the speculations would not hurt though.

If you read this, Taylor, you should know that QPR fans are backing you to succeed, and we know you have good abilities! You have a good network at QPR that wants you to make it.

I'm not backing him to succeed at QPR. Couldn't care less whether he makes another 1st Team squad or not. Two years letting us down. Just avoided relegation last season, up against it this season.

He'll reappear when his contract has year left, giving it "want to put last three years behind me, focus on my football"

Bloke is well paid to play football and he's not doing that .
He might be depressed , have issues . We are all fighting our own battles .
My eldest gets up at 4.30 , 5 mornings a week to go to work , so I have no time for a waster given a God given talent like Richards.

Couldn’t agree with you more. My two step daughters lost their father to suicide about 5 years ago at a very vulnerable age. It turned their lives upside down initially yet within a year they were “carrying on” and striving to do well in life. Oldest is now 16, has a weekend job and got brilliant results for her GCSEs last year.

I know everyone is different but I have no time for that waster either, two seasons of nothing from him.

And the NHS are pushing that exercise is good for your mental health. Perhaps Richards should try running around a bit more? But if he has a form of psychosis then he has my sympathies.

Very true. The club have handled this very badly to be honest, literally no update about his situation which could avoid all these debates and jumping to conclusions of us fans. It really isn’t helping Richards cause.

Genuine question, if he was formally diagnosed with Psychosis or Schizophrenia wouldn’t the club player insurance pay out like they would for a physical injury?

Fwiw, I agree. We don't know exactly what`s up with him. He can be in a very very bad place now.
