I think if you look at where colback played yesterday, he wasn’t in a DM role. He was a combative midfielder but he was in both ends of the pitch. That’s what Dozell was supposed to be doing and couldn’t.

As mentioned above, he's consistently picked by multiple professional football managers, but obviously they are all clueless and a select group of keyboard warriors are more clued up on what he does or doesn't bring to a team. It's laughably ridiculous. Someone also bemoaned him as a midfielder saying he doesn't score or assist...yet they probably cream their pants about Field...who doesn't score or assist. Go figure.
I've always said the same thing about Dozzell, he does a lot of the dirty unsung stuff most fans take for granted because it doesn't make headlines. Numerous times I've seen him prevent goals against when teams have broken quickly following our poor corners, when most of the teams in the opponents box. He's always the first and most prominent defensive line in that situation and many times an opponent has been wide with a player in the middle waiting for a squared pass and potential tap in and its Dozzell who blocks that pass, or breaks up the break befoire it gets that far...all the while most of our team are still in the attacking half. Most fans who moan about him fail to acknowledge such things, or their importance in the team structure and allowing others certain freedom to do what they do.
He also always makes himself an option for a pass, even in tight areas, and when he gets the ball always looked up to play forward quickly whenever possible, unlike Field or many others who happily go sideways or back relentlessly to the point of tedium. He has a very good range of passing and disguises well into the attacking players breaking the lines to get attacks moving....many fail to see this. Obviously there's not always a forward pass on so he has to go sideways, but its never his first though unlike others. This was a major issue under Ainsworth who played so deep with one player up top completely isolated. Dozzell would look up and there wasn't the runners who want a ball to feet, such as Willock, Chair, Smyth, because Willock was not in the team, Chair was too deep and Smyth effectively a wing back or full back under Ainsworth. This was down to the shite tactics.
Regardless, he's gone now, but for me he was harshly slated by many and the scapegoat of choice. It certainly wasn't him wasting chance after chance or making shocking defensive errors was it.... Anyway, I do find it unusual to release a player to a relegation rival who is more often than not in the starting 11. Ultimately, a starter leaving has to make the squad weaker. Rumours in the past were he was one of the higher earners, so can only assume there are targets Marti has, or more key priorities like a striker, who could only be considered with such a move to free up wages and remain within FFP limits. Have always said since Marti came in, hopefully he'd have identified a couple of players in the Swedish league he knows, who could be had for effectively peanuts compared to English based players because nobody has heard of them or very clued up on that league, but they are more than capable of performing at this level. We shall see.

I'm seeing reports suggesting Man Utd want to sign Eze and the player is keen but Man Utd not willing to meet Palace's valuation of £77 Million so they will probably wait until the summer in hope to get him more cheaply. They are willing to pay £60 Million. 20% of £60 Million would make our transfer window a little more interesting.

Michael Olise is not the only Crystal Palace star on the radar of Manchester United as reports indicate, the Red Devils are even after Eberechi Eze.
I hope its true and a compromise figure can be agreed. If Eze wants to go now it will happen.

I don't think we will miss Andre. The only risk is if two of our remaining three CMs get injured at same time. However if Andre is indeed one of our higher earners and we can spend those wages on a loan or two is potentially good business. Stating the obvious we badly need a striker. We are looking better with two up top but literally have no back up save for Kolli (not counting Kelman) and that could kill us if Dykes or Armstrong get injured. Besides Marti has said Andre wanted the move so his head was turned.
In terms of Birmingham have little doubt Mowbray will steady the ship there and move them up the table with or without Andre so for me no problem him going there. For them to have been in real danger Rooney would need to have stayed on as he was truly woeful there.

Press reports saying we have submitted a loan offer for Jonathan Varane from Sporting de Gijon (Spanish second division) with option to buy. Confusingly article is headed by us submitting £2m offer but then in narrative saying loan offer. Norwich apparently have also submitted an offer along with others so even if anything to the rumour looks like we will struggle to make it happen. Midfielder.

Not a chance we are in for him. Lining up 2 million transfer when we could well be in league by then. He will go to Norwich if he has a decent agent. Get tim in from villa and a loan striker from a prem team and we have a good chance of staying up..

Lure of London though. We COULD land him but with him having a get-out clause if we go down? Dunno who he is but if he's wanted by several now there shouldn't be a problem recouping the outlay in Summer. The only downside is if he turns out to be a £2million lemon.

Unless we have an in on a non league 100k diamond in the rough or hot youth prospect we should not be buying anyone.
Jan is a bad window to do so, where are, we need high quality loans. Myabe they have an option to buy also.
Tim keeps getting mentioned, he'd be perfect. Ings mentoned a while back, perfect. Thay may cost afew quid but it's a temporary measure/gamble and that's what we need. Stay up, then allow Marti to build.
