  • FFP....yeah right

I think there are not many who would regard FFP as fair to say the least. How about a workaround.
Similar status clubs sign up to a voluntary deal, with their own present limits (disregarding ffp guidelines). All clubs should be punished similarly, therefore getting points deductions would be meaningless. Okay the fines will affect but such a move might help bring about changes to this wholly unpleasant and I'll thought out scheme.

We couldnt do this as being a member of the league means we accept governance by the FA and in turn UEFA. Your plan would require a breakaway league. All teams have confirmed that they accept the conditions of FFP and actually want it as well to have controls in place.

Sheep is correct: The vast majority of clubs in EFL want FFP more or less like now. QPRs owners, that have deeper pocket than almost every other set of owners in EFL, have also supported FFP in its present form.

While we are very frustrated with the way FFP restricts us now, which will likely lead to relegation, we cannot blame the rules for the situation we have put ourselves in. The rules are the same for all other clubs. We have roughly same match day revenue and broadcasting revenue as many other clubs in the Championships that do much better, such as Luton, Millwall, Coventry etc. The main reason for our problems is lack of success in buying and developing players for sale. That is the way we can create resources to fund a good squad. We are now paying the price for this, and for reckless spending during the last two seasons. Everyone understands that costs of £47m isn't sustainable when income is £22m.

We might think that owners should be free to spend as much as they want, but the fact is that the vast majority of owners/clubs do not supports that so it will not happen - forget about it.

We have to deal with the rules as they are and stop moaning about the rules. There are no plans for bigger changes.

The hope is in the longer term that the training ground will get extra income in for the club, ether potentially through naming rights, player sales and clubs hiring out our facility who are coming over for European games, given how close it is to Heathrow Airport.

Not sure clubs coming over from Europe would use Heathrow. More like a private charter into Luton or Stansted if, indeed, they are London bound?

Is it only European clubs that suffer FFP? I don't think other federations have similar do they?....Just curious.

PSG actually used Heston once before we brought the site from Imperial College, so the demand is there.

Joshua Scott, QPR head of operations talked about the training ground being hired out to European Clubs when they fly over for European ties given how close Heston is to Heathrow, so its a potential extra source of income for the club.

All this FFP restriction stuff is ultra depressing. I was reading a programme that I picked up from a charity shop from 1978, saying we bought Glenn Roeder for £250,000. We can't even buy a player for that now and this was almost 50 years ago!

I think Birmingham City have been clever getting Tom Brady on board, Wrexham have shown what the USA fan base can do money wise with merch and all that but Brum doing it from a higher level maybe. Great little big of inginuity on their part.
