    Interesting.. not sure how true
but Monday there was a transfer meeting and Ainsworth and Ferdinand had a major disagreement with transfer targets and the Board are backing Ainsworth over Ferdinand on who to bring in .
makes sense as another poster said 2 Wycombe payers are incoming maybe les tried to stop it as they are not good enough for us .
And his got over run on it and said good by

I Can’t say good riddance Les as he brought this club back from crazy times to a stable club, but unfortunately the last 2/3 years just haven’t worked in one way or another & club is in turmoil & change was inevitable, good luck Les in what you do & your always be a legend here

Les’ time as a player at the club was before my time and my only memories of him as a player are as a Tottenham player, really, so I was never lucky enough to see him play for the club but I’ve seen the goals and heard enough about his time at the club. I remember my Dad telling me about Les and we played Tottenham in a friendly in 1999 and it was going to be my time to see Les at Loftus Road, albeit in another club’s shirt. He didn’t play that day.

Then Les come in as DoF. He come back at a bad time for the club. We’d had the Premier League years and subsequent issues with the over spending that come with it. He’s steadied the ship, acted frugally and has done things with the club in mind. It’s gone a little astray over the past couple of years but it’s not been an easy couple of years, with the club emerging from the Covid period and then dealing with the Beale fallout.

For me though, despite never seeing him as a player at the club, he’s a legend and goes with my best wishes.

Good luck Les. Club legend and great player. DOF @ QPR a difficult role to say the least. Given our status, probably best not to fill the role. Currently we are just peripheral damage, like many others, feeding off the crumbs of those at the main table. Something wrong when...
            a) Nobody in our team would get on Man City bench and
            B) Their entire bench, would easily fill our entire side (true for many others).

LES Ferdinand has stepped down from his role as Director of Football at QPR after more than eight years at the club.

Ferdinand initially returned to Loftus Road in October 2014 as Head of Football Operations before moving into his current role in February 2015.

Ferdinand said: “This has not been an easy decision. My life is football, I love football and I want to stay in football but I do feel this is the right time for me to step down from my position here.
This is the club that gave me my chance in football. It will always mean so much to me.

“Everyone knows how special Queens Park Rangers is to me and it has been a privilege to be back at the club.

“There have been challenging times and I have had to make some very difficult decisions but every decision I have made has been with the best interests of the club at heart.

“I would like to thank the owners whose commitment to this club is incredible. They have such a strong desire to give QPR fans the club they deserve and I will be their biggest supporter as they look to achieve it.

“I also want to thank the fans. I know it has been difficult for them recently but their passion is what makes them so special. If you want to know what support means, look at our last home game. After a tough year, they gave us our biggest attendance of the season. That says everything about the QPR fans.

“This is the club that gave me my chance in football. It will always mean so much to me and I wish the R’s every success in the future.”

Speaking on behalf of the board, chairman Amit Bhatia said: “I wish to thank Les for his guidance, leadership, determination and friendship over the years.

“This club means so much to him and I have seen that first-hand.

“In an industry where individuals with genuine authenticity and integrity appear to be scarce, Les's sincerity and honesty have always set him apart, and have made him so special and so valued by the board.

“QPR is Les’s club and he will always be welcome back with open arms at Loftus Road.”

CEO Lee Hoos added: “Les’s knowledge of the club and his contacts within the game have been hugely beneficial to us.

“I am enormously grateful to him for all his assistance and support, and thank him wholeheartedly. He is a first-rate man.”

Ferdinand will be in attendance at the opening ceremony of the club’s new training ground next week as a guest of the board.

If there was a disgreement with GA over transfers then he obviously didnt rate the players proposed and didnt want to he associated with another disaster.

But...we aint getting any signings done until a new DoF is installed and what if he doesnt agree with GAs list of players? Will the new DoF sack GA or if the Board want to go with GAs list of players then whats the point in having a DoF?

If we're truely skint then will might as well run with GAs players and save the DoFs wages for the player budget.

We have never needed and will probably never need a DOF.

Expensive bling-bling and a source of problemos.

This is a fair point. I think it makes sense nowadays to take responsibility for negotiating transfers and devising players' contracts and remuneration away from managers but I'm sure Hoos could take all that on and let GA concentrate solely on training and playing matters.

Remember phil beard doing this for us in the premiership someone with no experience of doing this and handing out massive contracts.
rather the chairmen do this .. like levy etc

what was les role ? I know the title was DOF
                        but what does that involve

I think the DOF role will be retained as there’s speculation around Steve Gallen, Kenny Jackett, Luke Dowling and Warbs in the press.

I thank Les for trying, he did.

The club need a DOF because the board don't have what it takes to build this club into what it could be, the money yes, the direction no, proven.

It will be interesting to see where this takes Hoos.

Not a fan of any of the names being touted, other than Warbs. I would give hil another shake of the stick, i think GA will need him, or someone like him.

We could find out that Les was either the one holding us back, or the one keeping us together.

                            Let's see!

We get up to the premiership via the play offs ,the same season we employ Ferdinand, who brings in Ramsey and all his mates over the years. One notable asset in Eze ,the rest we all know,Him and his team have taken us backwards, and ok I understand the FFP bit but not anyone really come through in 8 years. The rest need to be sacked too.

Warbs wasnt a fan of those coming through the youth set up and pressure to play them cost him his job.

If MB is appointed its premiership loans and GA is toast.

If Gallen then GA may survive with pickings from the lower leagues.

This needs sorting ASAP before decent talent moves to other clubs. We do not need 4-6 weeks of p1$$1ng about or we'll be relegated. Sort out what we want and sort it pronto!
