Looking at the City super expensive squad, it called to mind the brilliant Mercer/Alison team and in particular the half back line of Doyle- a proper right half tough and skilful. Booth, a no nonsense centre half and Oakes a lovely balance left footer and for me one of the best players never not to be capped by his country. All came through the youth ranks costing nothing

Yes, Dave, and known as 'Nijinsky' because of his stamina.

I saw Summerbee, aged 80 at the final. Does anyone remember when he played against us in a testimonial. I forget whose ( Gillard?) and he got sent off!! I think Tony Hazell wound him up. The latter always took things too seriously. Hazell was always moaning at his colleagues during games.
