He has 1 goal and 0 assists in 19 games this season (almost all from the bench). He cannot get into the starting eleven of a team below us. I admit my expectations are very low.

Based on our normal luck, he will be injured most of the time. I suppose two goals between now and the end of the season must be seen as a success compared to what he has done up until now this season.

By the way, we are not skint. We are just not allowed to spend more money as we will be in breach of FFP. Hence, this uninspiring signing does not show any lack of ambition, but a lack of success in signing, developing and sell players with good profit, which is the only way we can fund squad improvements and move forward as a club.

Let's have it right he's better than dykes and Armstrong , 34 no age if u look after yourself. He's never been fast but he's big and strong with height in both boxes

I have always hated this geezer , he was always a handful for defenders and use to be a right nuisance but hopefully i will start to like him if he does well for us, which i very much doubt at this stage in his career.
I was hoping we could sign or loan a half decent striker at this level in the window but the club let us down and this signing smacks of desperation but at least he used to be decent at holding the ball up and bringing others into play so time will tell.

Welcome Chris, I hope you do well for us, as we need it.
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.

We do badly need grit and experience and he offers that. We are also desperately short up top and he gives us options. Not expecting an avalanche of goals but if he can be a focal point up top then he can be a nuisance for opposition defenders and help bring other attacking players into the game. Liked comment by NC that he is always available.

If we ever see Balogun back then with Stef we will have older players in defence, midfield and attack. We need some of that to mix up with the younger players. In my view the lack of experience and character has been a big factor in our collapse.

A good signing for me; lots of experience and looks lean in the interview.

It's probably the best we were going to do given how we are at the moment, always been a decent player, remember he had a really good spell at Derby when he was there, let's hope a run in the team will get his fitness up to par, he certainly has an eye for goal and will hold the ball up well, so nothing to lose in this signing, might work out ok

Interesting fact "Only 5 players in Championship history have scored more goals than Chris Martin at second tier level…"

Yeah good to hear but that relates to when he was like a brand new car. It's now got plenty of miles on the clock and most of the cars parts are worn out.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

It's a last-minute temporary measure in response to the unforeseen illness of Dykes. In the circumstances I feel the club have done okay getting hold of CM for three months. Be brilliant if the fellah ends up scoring for toffee and we can all start having a laugh and enjoying our football again... C'mon Big Man - get up and at 'em!

Sorry chaps don't get me wrong I am very happy with the signing. Let's face it after the transfer deadline passing this is certainly the best scenario for us in an unfortunately desperate state. I just also want to be realistic as he isn't that player he used to be but if he can match dykes then I would take that.

Huddersfield current points per game will put them on 44 points by the end of the season if their form doesnt improve.

All I want is for Martin to.play his part to get us three wins and two draws to get us to 50 points. I couldnt care less if he doesnt score as long as he can bring others in to do that. Anything more than 50 points is a bonus.

I had thought we were getting close to a settled team, but the summer will bring a huge change in the squad. I would sell Willock, Dieng, Chair, Field, Dickie and Dykes and start again. We need to cash out on these players and bring in another batch for possible resale in the future. I would love some of these players to sign new deals but just cant see it happening.

Keep Field, agree on the rest, because of Oslo's comment, which is spot on.

This CM signing is exactly what we need because of Oslo's comment, which is spot on.
