we let go twelve players and only signed four, two of which are loans. We got nearly a million for the Dutch defender and assume the likes of CA, Ball, Barbet, Wallace, Gray, Hendricks were on good money. That must saved some money for sure, however, if after all this we are still not making our ends meet, we may be in trouble.

Hard to disagree with what’s already been said, we got it wrong big time under TF and our ground size don’t help.
Hopefully we can bring in a decent cf and a rb. Should we flog anyone he’s gotta go for proper dollar Eze money already absorbed

Last season we overspent this season we are underspending. We do not have to sell players if we don't want to unless teams meet our price. Why would Newcastle spend £20m on an untested player if they have ambitions of top four. It's the Brightons, with money to burn, that you have to look out for but more in the £12m bracket at most.

Even back in the good old days of the 80s and early 90s we were a club that had to sell to survive. We would sell a prize asset and try and get replacements from lower leagues or through the ranks or sometimes journeymen who could do a job for us. Worked for years until we got it wrong one year and then bang. Was bound to happen at some stage. Some of the incoming transfers looked good on paper but bombed.
That is who we are again now, albeit in Championship, and we haven't sold anyone bar Jordy and doubt we got anything much for him. We are therefore very limited in who we can buy. Plus side is most of who have gone (which reduces wage bill) were either fringe players or well past their best, barring Barbet who we have replaced. That means we have kept the spine of our team including our better players. Still a few weeks to lose someone but realistically unless we are desperate enough we have to sell someone on the cheap we are unlikely to lose anyone of note, exception being Willock although even with him my gut feeling is we will get a couple of late cheeky offers (possibly with add ons) from clubs looking for a bargain buy from a club needing the money.
Best thing for us is keep who we want, hope they have great first half of season, and we sell them in January for much more than we would get now.

You've provided thorough evidence, backed up with comprehensive reasoning.
It's difficult not to agree with you.
Willock is gone.Prejudice is a great time saver. You can form opinions without having to get the facts.

Clubs all around us are spending money yet we have, since relegation and Les took over, off loaded high wages after high wages.
We were promised a few very tight years 3 or 4 before we could move forward from survival mode.
Yet here we are 8 years later still living beyond our means??
What the hell is going on?
We are a selling club and should expect to sell at least one of our better players every season for decent money - however, Warburton completely ballsed it up by failing to shape or polish any of our players into profitable assets.

I stand to be corrected.

Well so far I have been assured that Dickie, Chair, Willock and Dieng would have been sold before the seasons starts on this board at various times. Can't see why our losses have gone up from £1m a month to £1.5m? Or does it just sound better to the doom and gloom merchants.
