Absolutely cracking game of football which Rangers in the end survived for our first 3 points of the season.
Rangers totally controlled the first half with Willock ripping Boro apart,they had no idea how to stop him apart from fouling him, the whole team closed down and fought for everything, Willocks goal was a screamer into the top corner,he was fouled 3 times on way to his finish, Boro looked shell shocked at 3-0 down, however some slack defending from Dunne allowed them to score an undeserved goal, Dunne repeated his poor defending a minute later, which nearly allowed Boro a second

You knew Wilder would rip his team a new one at H/T and fight back duly began, for 20 mins it was like the Alamo, non stop pressure from them and it only seemed a matter of time before they equalised.

We hung on for dear life, however Boro had shot their load and run out of puff on about 65 minutes,both teams was knackered and the introduction of Uncle steadied the ship
Overall an excellent win against good opponents.
Thought Dykes had a much better game than normal took his goal well and run himself into the ground, we all know his faults but give him credit today, Amos played well driving forward at every opportunity, Johanson and field were both good.
Only real disappointment was Chair who looked out of sorts.
Also Paal looked a bit nervy but received little back up from Chair.


MOTM by a mile was Willock. unplayable at times.

We definitely are a 1 man team and I think the 2nd half of the season clearly proved that. I just hope and pray we can keep hold of him because I personally think he would grace the premier League and could easily play at a mid table side like palace.

Our slide last season started before Willock got injured but him being out certainly made things a lot harder for bread man.

He is by far our best players but there are others who can step up. If they do that then could be an enjoyable season.

I sincerely hope he plays well in August and that we sell him for a fantastic fee before the end of the transfer window - in time to use the proceeds for a couple of good acquisitions. The reason for my thinking is because Willock has just two years left on his contract (when we include our option for another year). Next window he only has 1.5 years left and the price drops because of this. If it goes until summer of 2023 he will regrettably leave for small money compared to what we can get now.

Willock has the ability to play in the Premier League, so it isn't likely he will extend his present contract or sign a new inside the financial boundaries we operate under.

Our future success is dependent on developing and selling players and reinvest wisely. We haven't had a big money sale for two years now and if we cannot sell Willock for good money this window we might be in trouble at some time.

Agree entirely with this. Would love him to stay, but financially it makes more sense to go before the end of this transfer window.

We've got Roberts and Richards as attacking players and I think these lads were brought in with the expectation of Willock going. If he goes it would be great to get £20m which would be small change for Newcastle.

It would be great for us financially but if he has the opportunity to play at a higher level we should thank him and wish him well. He's been brilliant for us.

Agree with much of that Romford. First half we were completely dominant. Dunne tried to be a bit too cute running the ball out for a gk and ends up conceding a corner. Boro score and there is the lifeline they needed. The players ran their arses off but I think we have a major problem with johanson. This guy is so poor and he's not providing the team with anything positive. He's spends too much time strolling around in front of the 2 cbs to take the ball off the them only to pass it straight back to them!!

His legs have totally gone. He's far too slow and immobile. When he loses the ball he starts flapping his arms and pointing at players trying to shift the blame onto them!!! You're the bloody captain mate!! Trying leading by example!! He slows everything down and is causing huge problems in the middle of the pitch where he can't link the play or carry the ball. As soon as he's closed down he can't hold onto the ball. Making him captain isn't helping as no one drops their captain.

Aside from him it was a good team display..we rode our luck at times in the second half. I felt we should have taken willock and Amos off at 70 mins and put bonne and dozzell on then. Both Chris and luke have had no real pre season yet they were still out there when they looked to be struggling. Willock was out on his feet by this stage!!!

Dykes had a cracker and the goal turned him into a different player!! He is a fit lad and never gave the boro cbs a second on the ball. Special mention for dickie who i think blocked at least 3 goal bound efforts and his abilty to carry the ball out of defence is unrivalled in this league imo!!

All in all a well deserved 3 points and willocks goal has just stuck another 10 million on his price tag. Championship players don't score goals like that!!

The worse thing willock could have done is score that screamer , will put him in the shop window. Would like him to stay longer the fella is a cut above the rest . Well written Romford , I thought dykes had his best game in ages , can't fault his effort , won his share of headers and got a goal. Field played well and thought dickie was decent... Chair and Johansen had bad games , but thought Johansen looked a bit fitter in the 1st half but got messy and slow as the game went on ... 3 points

Albert Adomah showed his value. 20 minutes of getting "stuck in", took pressure off.

Doubt he'll start many matches but great option from bench when we're struggling.

What would we expect to get for a 20-million pound deal for Willock?

Any transfer money in would essentially cover the overspend every season. If we got £20m it would probably be £10m up front to cover last season's overspend when we had some players on top money. The rest would come in over three years and again would off set expenses. But it Iwould free up more investment money from the Board though.

Even with £20m coming in I doubt we'd see any significant transfers in. Possible a £2m starlet but mainly to cover wages for a free transfer.

We also have an obligation to buy the lad from Brighton and an option to buy the lad from Leads.
