Sir Les is the Director of Football and it's his job to make sure the club has players to sell for big money into the premier league I'd we cant get there ourselves. Most clubs play with wing backs these days so that system is pretty much set upon us if we need players to make that step up.
And a new manager has to have the ability to play a few other systems aswell. Players also... (Imo)It all about opinions on message boards.
Of course they will, QPRDave. It`s not Warburton who has decided that every player in a QPR shirt is trained and drilled in a modern way; It`s the Board guided by Sir Les and Chris Ramsey. Personally I trust and respect them both very much for their knowledge of the game.
Agree that the owners / directors etc. will want us to play a certain way .
I don't agree that most teams play with wing backs , hardly any in each division , most play 442 or 433.
Off the top of my head Chelsea and Spurs in the Prem and Boro / Forest/ Sheff utd and West brom in the Championship are the ones i can think of that play with wing backs.
Oksy - I confess I dont watch too much premiership football because I dont like influence money has in it. But i thought most team play with one up front with an attacking advanced midfielder, and wingers were a thing of the past? I thought one up top, packed midfield and wing players up and down the flanks in attack and defence? Two centre forwards being a long and distant memory?
You can still play a passing game with 442 , with the forwards we've got this system would suit us because your two wide players should get plenty of crosses into the box and i don't think our forwards are mobile enough to play with just one up top.
Admittedly most of the better sides play 443 nowadays but the 3 up front are usually very mobile and flexible to switching between the front three . eg; the front threes of City /Liverpool / Real madrid /Barcelona / Bayern munich and loads of others.

Sorry i meant 433 , not 443 , would be nice if we could play 443 haha
It’s true we had a brilliant January but
I said we got away with a few wins i.e. Coventry and Bristol City. Late winners from games we could easily have lost.
The DoF will have a preferred way to play and I would expect him to interview managers and coaches who meet this.
I would be stunned if they appointed someone who was direct such as Valerian Ishmael.
I have no real issue with playing with wingbacks but with 2 strikers as we did when Jim Smith used the formation or Warburton last season with Austin and Dykes. The problem is that he hasn’t done it this season. I have no idea why or why he hasn’t realised this is probably why Austin has not been anything like he was.
Unless there is a remarkable upturn in results, I think he will be sacked before the season ends, if only to give a new manager some time to assess the current squad.
The DOF can’t tell the manager his preferred way of playing!, that’s why they employ managers to make their decisions on how the team play not the DOF for Christ sake, who join if that was the case, no one & Warbs will be here until end of season & then see how it goes, he’s gotta stay
