I'm loving the new signings, the potential new signing of Stefan Johansen and temper that with the bad news about Sam Field but I'm struggling to figure out our likely starting 11 v Millwall....Dieng, 3 of Barbet, Dunne, Dickie and De Wijs (think the latter will miss out with injury?), McCallum, Kakay, Stefan if he signs, Amos, Willock, Chair, Dykes and Austin....but that's 12 players, who doesn't start? Will it be 442 with only 2 CBs or wingbacks and a 5 at the back approach? We do seem to have a good solid starting lineup whatever that might be...You Rs!

Must be something like :
Dieng
Dickie De Wijs Barbet
Dozzell
Kakay Chair Willock Wallace
Austin Dykes
with the likes of Dunne, McCallum, Amos et al all getting a run at some point perhaps?
This must be our first X1 to start following last seasons successs and pending Stef Jo to sign and Sam Fields unfortunate injury

Did Willock and Chair play at the same time last season or was one or the other?

Think if Field was fit Warbs would have mixed it up, maybe played two strikers at home then away or when we need to keep it tight drop one of Austin and Dykes and play Field and Stef in the middle. The question now is whether Stef can play the holding role on his own as Chair and Willock (who certainly can and have played together) are both v attacking.
My understanding is Amos is way off being match fit, only just started playing on the grass I believe. As such think we will be seeing a lot of Dom Ball - as from what I've read Dozell doesn't have the tackling ability to be the holding midfielder.

I would like to play 4-4-2 but modern football is odd and we're more likely to play 3-1-3-1-2 or something.
We are very lucky that Dieng is very confident and comfortable with ball at his feet and under pressure. I think this should feed into how we set-up defensively cos Seny is like having an extra "half of a defender" on the pitch.
I'm beginning to think we might need to loan in a midfield dynamo to cover absence of Field and Amos and non-arrival of Johansen. The above lineups look a but powderpuff in midfield to me.

Can’t really see Rangers paying £1m for Dozzel and not playing him with Johansen if he does sign
If Dunne is ready for the first team he may provide some pace to be able to play 442 ,meaning there is space for both Willock and chair in the side.

Dieng
Dickie Dunne/Jordy Barbet
Kakay Stef Dozzell McCallum
Chair
Austin Dykes
I'd guess Warbs will start with a 3-4-1-2. I'd expect some rotation in some games playing 1 up front with 2 in behind, also have the option to play 4 at the back.
Given some luck with injuries and suspensions, we do have quite a strong squad and certainly have options to change things up in terms of personnel and formations. We'll be keeping the opposition guessing throughout the season which is a definite positive.

A snippet from a Rooney article today.
"Derby currently has only nine registered senior players, two of whom are goalkeepers. One of those players Jason Knight was injured after a 50-50 tackle in training with Rooney. He has been ruled out for three months"
Our owners have made mistakes but we never got to that state. It's going to be tough for Wazza to keep them up!
