There has to be a line here.

Not my number one choice for the job, but I also agree that he would keep us up.
What I certainly don't agree with is your very last line, because I don't see a huge difference between the two managers (Warnock and Dowie) and their recent achievements.

But two out of three isn't bad(!).
I have never understood the praise for Dowie though. He's really not that good. As Writtler said, he is practically living off a few successes and that seems to have completely clouded over his shocking record at other clubs. He's a decent manager, I'll give him that, but he does not deserve to even be mentioned in the same breath as Warnock.

From the lower leagues up, Warnock has won promotion a number of times. For managers to consistantly win promotions at any level is great because unlike a player who may be great at one level, yet poor at another, a manager can only use the tools to hand, therefore has to compete against clubs full of players of a similar level in ability. He is clearly a far better tactition that Dowie and all this BS about NW only knowing how to play hoof ball is unjust. Palace have played some class football this season with a fairly average squad.

Warnock has a proven record of getting players to play out of their comfort zones and rising above expectations. He is also never shy of taking the flack if it's for the good of the team.

in our current position, NW gets the nod way ahead of Dowie and most other managers.

    That's just my $0.02 worth.
    Your mum would love me...

i realise we don't really have the time to waste with this but warnock is probably worth the extra risk compared to dowie.
And what if they win the replay?

Well it all boils down to whether or not the papers are right... or the rumours that are posted on here regarding the managerial situation.

We'll find out soon, I suppose.

          Same as the takeover stuff.

I think he did brilliantly at Oldham, Palace, and was doing fairly well at QPR. We wont agree on our rating of him, and that's ok.

But I could say the same for Warnock.
In the last 14 years he has produced ONE promotion, of any kind. Wasn't exactly at a small club either. And they were relegated straight away, just like Dowie at Palace.

He got massive praise for the way Palace drew at home to Villa on sunday in the cup... well Dowie took us AWAY to Villa in the cup, and won.
Palace have got some good players, but they've still managed to get thrashed at home this season by Scunthorpe, Doncaster and Reading.

Yeah, I might be selecting stats here, but so are those who #### Dowie off. Coventry wasn't great, but Leicester wasn't great for Holloway.

What I'm saying is.... I don't think he's THAT wonderful, or his record this century is THAT great that we should wait more than a week for him to grace us with his presence.
And if it's left to whether we should wait more than a week for him, or get Iain Dowie in, then I'd rather that than sticking with Harford.

Benny, I respect your opinion... But I know who I really want, and it's neither Warnock or Dowie.... but in our CURRENT state, I'd trust either of them to keep us up more than Mick Harford.
One big advantage Dowie has is his knowledge of many players at QPR, and theirs of him.

Anyway, get Curbishley in, and all this stuff is irrelevant.

                Now my head hurts.

good managers dont stay unemployed for long.curbishley was waiting for the whu fiasco to end, coppell chose to have a long time out....dowie?not seen too many job offers for him since he was sacked from us.preston didnt want him, so ive no idea why he;d come back to us unless its the only offer hes had. fabio may not know sfa about football but he knew the dowie way led to a stiff neck.

Agrred Goddard, If Curbishley is now clear of all the West Ham shenanigans now, why are we mucking about with Warnock will he won't he nonsense. Get Curbs in now and pay him big IF he keeps us up, and then down the line pay him big IF he gets us promoted.

It's the short term instability in the boardroom which has clearly impacted the contracts offered to coaching staff and the players attitude.

Mick Harford's point was to appoint anyone on a permanent basis, as without that, the commitment of the players cannot be won. Bringing Dowie in on a short term contract would not resolve this.

Amit and Flavio must immediately finalise their negotiations and lay a long term contract on the table for someone, or it is clear we will be relegated. I dont see the benefit to either party having to renegotiate when we are in the bottom 3.

A deal must be done now.

The lack of fitness of the players, and some who are obviously carrying more weight than they should, has been a major problem this season. Dowie brought in an excellent fitness coach, but unfortunately the Club got rid of him after Dowie went. Big mistake IMHO.
