Trust me, if this was earlier in the season he'd be long gone.

Indeed. As stupid as it sounds, the only reason he is still manager, is because we are looking to replace him. If we sacked him now, we would have to have another caretaker, before our prefered choice started.

My nephew was at the pitch inspection and I met him later in the pub and he said it was not playable, really bad down one side. He also heard a bit of a rumour that we would have a new manager very soon.

Matter of time before Warnock takes charge imo
              Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
              And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

See previous posts. A number of the Watford players expressed astonishment that the game was called off.

Apparently it was only bad in the corners by Ellerslie.

As did the Radio London commentary team at the time - don't know who the presenter was but he had Bradley Allen with him.
I had this on as we drove to W12, just waiting for the game to be called off - when it was, both the host and Bradley expressed some surprise and started to moan about health and safety stuff - they said the ref didn't even roll a ball on the surface.
BUT - as we drove home we continued to listen and things started to change...........by the time I pulled onto my drive at about half 8 both men were saying well done ref, you got it right. The rain continued, puddles filled up and the pitch was clearly unplayable. Well done for taking the forecast into account and for identifying that the pitch was struggling, even an hour before kick off, to absorb the rain.
Both Harford and Mackay were interviewed on the show - and stated very clearly at the time of their interviews that the ref got it right - but hey the players were shocked and you do love a conspiracy theory

The issue isn't really why the game was called off, more why our pitch system won't drain as well as most people's, and as to whether it could have been called off sooner.
Faurlin is my hero!!! Love him!!! #########

That should be the issue Swanley - sadly though many want to turn it into something it's not...how unusual on here!!

As fo the last part, apparently there were 3 inspections and during the first 2 the pitch seemed playable - because it continued to rain and the forecast said it would continue for some time to come the ref felt it unplayable at 7.

The players also attempted to have a training session on the pitch (from 7.30) and they appeared but departed pretty quickly by all accounts.
