  • Mr Flavour of the Month Gets Critisized...

    Warnock - Mirror....

Some fair points in there? I think so.

I know he's viewed as QPR's possible "Saviour" right now... and the state we're in, I can understand that.
But I don't quite understand why he is The Chosen One all of a sudden?? His situation is complicated, it'll take time that we don't have, he's expensive because he's contracted to another club, we're being driven by desperation here... but there are other managers who are out of work right now, and who have more on their CV than Warnock has.

Like I say, I'd be fairly happy with him, compared to the journeymen jokers we've had recently... and certainly happier than getting Lothar Matthaus(!!).
But IF Flavio Briatore has gone, and that opens the door for us to be able to attract decent managers again, then why are we putting all our eggs in Warnocks basket, and hoping/waiting that he is told by some administrators that he must go, even though he'd rather stay at Palace?

There are other managers, you know. Available, and with better records than him.
I'll probably get shot to bits here(!)... but over the last 10 years, even Iain Dowies CV is equally, if not more impressive than Neil Warnocks, if you actually look at it without the blind panic we find ourselves in.

Fair point but Warnock has all of the skills that we are currently desperate for. Huge motivator and anyone who plays for him loves him. Installs huge confidence in his players and he will also not take any crap from those above.

I agree there are probably better managers in Coppell and Curbishley but there management style is not what is required at the moment. Maybe if one day we get promoted.

Someone posted Warnock's managerial stats the other day, they are not that impressive, I think it was 36% wins.

I think we should look elsewhere long term, but could we loan him for 16 games?.

What's is long term at Loftus Road though!!!
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.

Not against the bloke, but I could name half a dozen out of work managers that I'd rather we went after. With better CV's.
But I understand the appeal of him right now.
You used the key word in your first line: Desperate.

have to say thought article a bit harsh.

In Sheff Utd's relegation year they started as odds on favourites for relegation and by all rights should have had a season equivalent to Derby's disastrous one. Instead they fought their corner and if not for a late slide would have stayed up against the odds. That would have been incredible given the squad at his disposal.

At Palarse he has taken charge of a team with everything not going for them, apart from a good youth set up which has led to various players being sold to keep them going this long. They have performed far above expectations. This is a side which really should have totally imploded.

He does have a big mouth and a chip on his shoulder which makes him look a git sometimes. For me he has the type of personality we badly need to take charge here.

I would have him above Curbishley whose latter year or so at Charlton was not good and who did little at Wet Spam. I would possibly even have him above Coppell who, whilst a very good manager, may not have the forthright manner to sort out the prima donnas here. We need more a bruiser type of manager and that is Warnock. Can't think of anyone else who would fit the bill and who is available.

Imo NW is the right man for this club, no doubt. He creates good teams out of weak teams and with a good set of players he almost never dissappoints. He's a man of his own with a lot of charisma and a big mouth. Players who doesn't like it leaves, the others fight for the club, match in match out. This is exactly what QPR need..no player, or chairman, will be in charge.

Warnock is the best manager for the position we're in. No way would Curbs, Coppell or Dowie do a better job under the current circumstances. I've always said I'd like Warnock to come here as he's a fantastic CCC manager, but now, more than ever do I feel he is a must.

Your spot on Benny he did a great job over the years at Sheffield United and would be ideal for QPR at the moment.

Goddard - you are so spot on. The problem, as always, appears to be no-one looking long term. OK, so in the hole we've dug ourselves, Warnock may bring a bit of discipline to the table (but then I thought Harford might do that), but is he going to stay around for the re-building that we will inevitably have to do (again) this summer and then the three or four years of development that will need to follow? I seriously doubt it.

In any case, the circus will not be moving on, if reports are correct, Flabio will still be around and Paladini appears to have the sticking qualities of a limpet even though he is just an employee. Will they both be able to leave a new man to it? VERY, VERY doubtful.

I am not sure that I understand the euphoria the coming of the Indians appears to be creating. Yes, removing Flab is a good move, but we are so deep in the brown stuff at the moment and I honestly believe that the players have shown themselves to be totally incapable of turning the corner. After all, the greatest manager in the world will not change the fortunes of our team if the players don't want to play...

I just get the impression with Curbs that he is waiting for a PL job.

In the summer there has to be a hugh clear out of players and I would only keep the following: Gavin Mahon, Martin Rowlands, Kaspars Gorkss, Matthew Connoll, Lee Cook, Alejandro Faurlin, Angelo Balanta, Romone Rose and Elvijs Putnins.
