First Goal - Lost possession, a pass to an unmarked player in midfield who passed onto to a player without a challenge being made, and runner and eventual scorer was not being tracked (possibly Manning) who then only had to give Lumley the eyes and slot the ball passed him. Keeper's arm was up in an attempt but had no chance with that strike at that range. Awful defending throughout the pitch by our players.

Second goal - How Manning allowed the right winger to get a cross over beggars belief, he got completely out muscled. Kakay jogged towards the left winger so didn't close him down and allowed a simple pass to be made. CB stood off Mare to push the ball to his right and blast it passed the keeper, who made an attempted save. You could see Lumley was furious with the defending. Awful defending by both FBs and Dickie.

Third Goal - No challenge on their left winger and all defenders behind the ball and scorer not market by Manning. Great strike with 6yrds out and would have whistled passed Lumley's ears.

No way was Lumley at fault for that defeat and the defending was as bad as it gets throughout the pitch. If anyone needs picking out it was Manning. Didnt track the scorer for the first, failed to break down play for the second and completely left his player go for the third. He was not on his game and if that's how hes going to play this season we should bin him off now.

Perhaps others should watch the highlights again

I've seen the highlights of the game and not one of the goals was Lumley at fault. Too many on here see three goals conceded and automatically pick him out as the offender. If he reads half of what is written on MBs then he will never have any confidence, thank God there are no crowds at the moment so he can't hear people booing their own player. Anyone seeing the Dieng 'highlights' package on YouTube, and being impressed, obviously don't like 'keepers to catch a ball. It was like watching a poor mans Julio Cesar.

Again: He-didn`t-even-try-to-raise-his -hands. I did not say that it was his fault solely. It`s just like he totally gives up...

So what? I could stand in goal and flap my hands at the ball but it would still be a goal.

Goal One - Keeper's left arm was up as the ball was slotted passed him

Goal Two - Powerful shot and was on his right knee as part of an attempted reaction save. Poor camera angle though.

Goal Three - Attacker hit the ball flush on the volley on the 6yard box (5.5 mentres) and I would challenge any keeper to attempt a save from that distance and the speed at which the ball flew passed his left ear.

My general comments were not direct at you but to all posters who slagged off Lumley after that performance. I really do wonder whether many have any pitch experience themselves even if only amatuer level.

I still haven’t seen the goals but I already know Lumley is a poor keeper so I don’t really need to .

And I was never trying to suggest otherwise, he has made a lot of mistakes pady season, with his handling and commanding his box when coming for crosses.

But I just thought the slating he received on Sat/Sun was extremely unfair when the likes of Manning was not under the same scrutiny.

I'm just trying to be fair to the lad because he will be our keeper next Sat and hope we dont jump to conclusions if we ship a few goals.

This is the pedagogically correct take at it My comment`s were not, to be fair..

I saw the goals on Sky Sports News before commenting on here thanks.
it looked to me that he dived to his right before the player shot for the 1st goal.
The second he was beaten at the near post. I am not saying he should have saved it, but responding to MWs embarassing comment about no saves to make!
I dont blame Lumley for the 3rd goal - that was down to poor defending.

I am judging Lumley on his performances and many errors since January 2019! He has not shown himself to be competent enough at this level during that time and has conceded almost 100 goals in that time.

That is nowhere near good enough imo.

Lumley is the best 'keeper we have at the club at the moment. Dieng parries too much and Kelly is too small and error prone. If Lumley is that bad, why is he attracting interest from other clubs? I'm not saying that Birmingham's scouts know more about football that the posters on this site, but it's a fair bet.

Have any club made any kind of bid for him?
