  • Championship relegation

I'm reading that Sheff Wed, and Derby are still under investigation and could yet receive a well deserved points deduction, for fake accounts.
A deduction apparently that could be
big enough to place them in the bottom 3.
Ok fine, got no problem with that.
But, if this was to happen Charlton and Wigan would get reprieves.
Now why should Wigan get a reprieve?
They have broken the rules, by going into administration.
The only answer I can see being fair to Barnsley and the other teams who haven't cheated is to now leave the relegation as it is, and deduct points from the other two for the start of next season.

Whatever they do, you can be sure that it won't be fair or logical. The whole thing is a mess and should be completely scrapped and something else put in place. It's clear to all but the EFL that FFP is simply not fit for purpose.

If 2 teams, are deducted 12 points and it leaves one higher than the other, that's why Wigan would get reprieve, they almost stayed up with the reduction. I think you can get a maximum 15 point deduction?

The EFL will do FA to derby or sheff Wed, its easier for them to send poor Wigan down being a smaller club, just because they went into administration for 24 hours so a take over could be completed, They be frightened of a legal challenge from the other 2. FFP is a load of nonsense everyone can see that Derby & Wednesday sold their grounds to people who already owned it to manipulate their finances (cook the books ) , we are and will be the only club who will ever be punished harshly under FFP rules, so much so they changed the rules the following year, FFP is impossible what is financially fair about one club being able to spend more than another, the only way it is fair is everyone is allowed to spend the same amount,

Wigan went into administration on July 1st and are still in administration. The rules for this are quite clear but the appeal is set for 31st. Whereas Derby and Sheff Wed manipulated the rules with Wednesday also accused of accountancy irregularity. Which is a bit more complicated.

No but they haven't stayed up, and what's the point of a punishment if you don't actually get punished?
              Unlike Queens Park Rangers.

Agree. It should be like the fantasy football rules where everyone's budget is the same. Otherwise it just isn't a level playing field where clubs with bigger grounds and fanbase, both home and abroad can generate huge incomes compared to others.
in this league we could never earn what Leeds, Derby Forest Sheff Weds etc can other than selling our best players for huge fees and replacing them with cheaper but somehow equal or better.

They effectively threw Luton out of the FL for fiddling players' wages and bonuses.
perhaps Derby and Wednesday deserve a 15 point deduction nix season for the ground selling scam and the latter an extra 15 for the accountancy irregularity.
And how about a huge fine to boot.?

Shambles. EFL charged Derby and Wednesday in January - it's farcical they still haven't meted out justice. Frankly, all clubs should resign from EFL and start again with a new set-up under new robust rules. It is clear that the current EFL is not fit for purpose - it has to go.
