Eze and BOS have badly stagnated under Warburton - he has failed to develop them or get anything remotely consistent out of them. Given their talent and ability that's a shocking indictment of Warburton's ability to work with players. Jesus wept! If he can't get a tune out of those two how on earth is he gonna build a team from a rag-tag bunch of kids, journeymen and cast-offs???? Warburton has not shown a single shred of evidence that he has any coaching or tactical nous. His sole game-plan is kamikaze defensively undisciplined football that results in more goals conceded than scored and more losses than wins. Best part is some people think it's okay as it's "entertaining". Maybe losing 3-5 is more entertaining than losing 0-1 but it's still abject failure and 0 points.
Yep we've got a ropey squad and no money but that applies to half the other Championship teams too. We will still have a ropey squad with no money next season and for the foreseeable future. Our single hope of salvation is a manager who can somehow deploy average players into a cohesive unit that is stronger than the sum of its parts. It can be done, Chris Wilder has done it with Blades for instance. I'd move heaven and earth to get Paul Cook from Wigan with maybe Clint Hill as his no.2, a Scouse dream team. Whatever we do, we cannot stick with Warburton. We have to twist.
how you can say that Eze and Bos have stagnated under warburton is beyond me - they have both had the best seasons of their careers and as for Paul cook - it seems you are basing all your arguments on post lock down football - before the shut down with QPR six points off the play offs unbeaten in 6 and wigan languishing in the bottom 5 would you be saying the same thing?

What Warburton needs is a good defensive coach - someone to stop the 2 goals a game we were conceding all season - we have been entertaining to watch this season - which is more than can be said for the previous 5 or 6 years. 6 against cardiff, 5 against swansea - wins away. this team can score goals - admittedly not at the moment but it can and will again - it just needs to find away of stopping them at the other end.

Don’t know how old you are but your talking absolute crap, of course Eze & Bos have flourished under warbs & playing so much better, how you say they have stagnated is beyond me, warbs is the right man for the job & they have got to give him time & it will take time to sort the club out, no use changing managers again as won’t work.

I love the over reacting of some supporters. We under MW have flirted with both the play offs and relegation, we have lost silly games and we have battered a few sides, particularly Welsh ones. We need to stick with MW for at least 3 seasons and see how his own sides continue to develop. This season has been very entertaining and has we not lost Wells in January who knows where we would have ended up. Any side/Manager would struggle losing their top scorer and then their Captain, along with various Squad Members. Under the circumstances MW has done a terrific job, he certainly isn’t the reason we are where we are.

think MW has done ok , football better to watch and the comeback against bristol city was great ... he couldn't rally them after covid break...

The BOS news suggests these players already knew some of them - the best ones of course - are offski. The club lacks any kind of ambition other than finishing out of the bottom 3 each and every season. This must have an impact on the players and the management team - we have looked a different side totally post lockdown... Still the new season starts in 7 weeks! Something to look forward to....

After a lot of thinking, yes it hurts, I have come to the conclusion that we have to give him at least the upcoming window. Like other posters have pointed out, we have not much money, and I feel Warburton is quite good at spotting talent, so why not give him the benefit of the doubt, and see what the first few months of next season brings ? He will probably not accept the intererence of a defensive coach so I think we have to rely on the hope that we will get a few decent defenders with a taactical nose being brought in. We already have Kakay and Masterson, but other than that I feel we are quite thin in that department.. Barbet is too much hit and miss imo, and Manning is just not up to it. Between the goalposts, Lumley is not good enough, neither is Kelly - but If we could get in a good keeper to partner Dieng we should be fine as far as goalies are concerned. In Midfield, I think Ball should be retained. Amos? Not so sure? I don`t like his body laguage when he looses the ball etc. etc. Cameron is worth keeping, but only just. A player I think could do a job alongside Ball is Sam Hutchinson who is frozen out at Sheffield Wed. He is a routined CB and more importantly a defensive midfielder also. Eze is off. Bos is off. That leaves us with Bettache and Chair as two young and sparkling fountains of creativity in midfield. Chair is good enough, but still a bit leightweight imo. Hugely talented though. Bettache looks like more of the same. That`s why I think we need a physical attacking enforcer in midfield. I`don`t know who, but I really hope our scouts are on the case. Thing is: time is quickly running out. Next season is fast approching, like it or not. Up front we have Hugill, Marco Ramkilde and Oteh. Hugill will be sorely missed as the main man. A focal point, who never let you down as far as physicality is concerned. Just a pity that he will most likely not be here next season. Oteh is not good enough it, seems like. Or at least far too inexperieced. I think I have forgotten to mention a few players, but on the whole, I think we need 1 goalie, 3 defenders, 3 midfielders and 3 proven strikers if we stand any chance to finish midtable next season which Is the goal I hope the club are trying to acheive.

The departure of BOS and Eze was pretty much an open secret.

Any club promoting or allowing the idea of only being cared about finishing outside the bottom 3 deserve all they get. But I think our club has the nouse to realise this.

We weren't doing too badly before lock down, but were woeful in our preparations for the restart. However, having said that, finishing 15th or above, is not a disastrous outcome.
