The only real error of judgement in my book was Chair.

Hemed is still injured and Smith provides no mobility so that is particularly baffling.
Chair provides some creativity and as we saw in recent games that without Luongo the midfield is not creating chances, so it would have been useful to be able to give Chair some more game time at this level as an alternative.

I'm guessing we either needed to reduce some costs so not to fall foul of FFP again, or MacLaren has his eye on next season. Maybe he needs these players to gain some experience.
As things stand we will be losing Hemed, Wells, Pawel, Bidwell, Lynch, Cameron and Rangel (plus a few other fringe players) in the summer. Its not inconceivable with our current spending power that the likes of Oteh and Chair might be first 11 next year.Last edited by Tarbie; 01-02-2019, 05:44 AM.

Have a feeling all these players being loaned out are to free up some money for a big rest of season loan. Otherwise why else are we getting rid out all our depth?

This has been a great window for me. Kept our most important players and our best youngsters are all going to get regular (hopefully) game time with other clubs to gain valuable experience. This leaves space for other young players to show what they can do and hopefully rise to the challenge like Oteh, Chair, Smyth etc. All those worrying that the ones that have gone out will leave us short.... We've had injuries for the last two months. How many appearances NOT in the cup have these young players made? There have only been the odd sub appearance between them. Its better they play proper football for the rest of the season rather than train with us and sit on the bench. Didn't do Eze any harm did it!!

Why do teams have subs on benches, you wait for youre chances and try to take them when yoj get them, loans are good for youngster who are either struggling or have no playing experience, smth chair even oteh are hardly any of those and would of got chances with injuries or players losing form simple, thats what happens when you make the subs bench in football

But they will get more game time elsewhere which will benefit them better in the long term. If they are to be playing more next season due to our constraints then it's better they play much more minutes elsewhere this season than the odd 5 or 10 minutes for us. It'll be a better learning curve than only being a bit part for us now.
