So, and correct me if I'm wrong...
Do you think Former England International Les Ferdinand turns up at Wanstead Flats to watch kids football and scout potential youth players?
Simple question with an easy yes or no answer.

I have a quick question for you if you don’t mind.
Do you think Les genuinely thought Ramsey could do a good job as manager, or in your opinion was the job given to him solely because of their friendship and the colour of his skin ?“He'll regret it till his dying day, if ever he lives that long”

No, because that’s a scouts job.

Pure conjecture of course but reading between the lines of what is public knowledge and what I have been told in private, I am left with no other choice but believe that Ramsey was appointed for reasons that should not come into consideration.
I hope I am wrong but I can't see any other conclusion.

Another easy yes or no question.
Les apparently ensures that new managers do not go mad in the transfer market. Do you agree that we have signed 32 players in the time Les Ferdinand has been DOF?
If yes,
Which managers have been told 'no, you can't sign him'?
Is it probably fairer to say that McClaren, for example, came in and said 'I want Toni L, 1 FB and 2 Strikers' how much money have I got and he was told by the board yes or no rather than by Les?

Yes agree DOF role in main is player additions. Can’t answer number of ins out outs without counting
Don’t think macca would have known who BFG was if he was tickling his bum before he was presented to him. If the DOF role is working effectively then it should be Les, not board who say yes or no. You clearly don’t think Les is doing role so they go over his head, you might be right you might be wrong but it’s your opinion again
Question for you, if Les is doing rock all and bypassed, as your suggesting, why don’t board sack him and save the wage???

the people paying their wages, but also by thousands of football fans who would very quickly let them know if they weren’t doing it well enough, in no uncertain terms. Therefore exposing your mate to public embarrassment and ridicule, sometimes in front of tv cameras ?
I doubt you would and I very much doubt Les did.
More likely is that Les genuinely thought that Ramsey could do a good job and him being black was a bonus as it made Les feel like he was helping redress the inequality in football.
I’m your typical white latter middle aged male but I can totally understand why he would do that.
As we all know it didn’t work out but unlike you I put that down as a genuine mistake on Les part.“He'll regret it till his dying day, if ever he lives that long”

Toni Leister was on both ours and McClaren's radar: the latter due to his connections on the continent, the former because of our friendly in Berlin; we sought the opinion of Poulter and he was also asked to ask TL whether he would consider a move to London. However, I am under the impression that McClaren insisted we bought him during his contract negotiations and this is borne out by him being made Captain. McClaren was already convinced he was the man for us.
Les is great at what he does. He's a glorified Administration Assistant who liaises with the various sections of the club and brings their concerns to the board who haven't been great at listening to complaints before for various reasons. However, he doesn't identify players, he doesn't scout players, he doesn't tell managers who they can and can't buy and post Ramsey and JFH his opinions about who we should appoint isn't sought.
I've read on here that he manages the contracts of players. Why don't people research how plausible that is? Option 1: We appoint an outside HR specialist to create contracts after consultation between player, agent and board or Option 2; We leave it to a man who left school with few or no qualifications? The board tell the manager how much money there is to spend in terms of both transfer fees and salaries and he tells them who he wants. Les MAY be asked to speak to a potential signee if it is believed he could persuade him - something all clubs do regardless of whether or not they have a DOF - but at no point does he tell a manager unless directed by the board that he can't have a player.
Don't get me wrong, as I said above, Les is fantastic at what he does but he's only doing what many previous employees of QPR have done in the past and what employees at most other clubs do without the fanfare of title he enjoys or the salary he demands.
He was appointed DOF as a panic gesture by the board when they realised that they had lost most of the fans and why they still keep him in a pointless position/job title is beyond me. However, when you analyse what he actually does and how it is no different from what we've had before it is s mystery and its almost as if they just want to keep the delusion of grandeur.
We lost our identify in the 'Boutique' years and we are, in effect, a new club trying to tap into the history of a club also called Queens Park Rangers who played at Loftus Road and who wore the same kit but who died about a decade ago. I understand why we need a club legend as a figurehead. Trust me, I do. However, he can still liaise among the various departments and try to persuade possible transfer targets to sign for us with out the riddiculous job title which leads to complete misunderstanding and without the salary he 'earns'.
