How would they know you were using a vpn,? I thought that was the point of them?
The point of them is to mask your real IP address and in most use cases your location. The problem is that VPN services still use an IP address, and there are companies that specialise in detecting the IP addresses that are being used by the VPN services. So QPR+ and other streaming will usually know you are using a VPN unless it's one you've set up yourself.
They no doubt would be, but they would be in breach of rights issues if they didn't take reasonable measures to stop people watching in the UK when they shouldn't be. Blocking public VPN services is something probably written into contract to be able to show the games.

I'm currently watching Sky TV in South Africa through the SkyGo app. Strangely if I set my location as UK they suss out I'm overseas, but if I set my location as Ireland it works fine. I think the trick is to pay the money for a decent VPN. Cheap or free ones often aren't as effective.

Yeah, they often only check obvious locations like UK addresses.
Another way around it for UK fans, is if you get someone you know in a European country to subscribe for you. Then they (or rather you with their account) will be allowed to watch it in the UK thanks to the new EU portability laws. I was about to do this with a friend in Germany until I saw the £115 price!

i was wondering about this... fairly sure that it wouldn't work (due to the website automatically blocking uk ips without a workaround), even though it should do under the portability rules. being interested to know if nyone can get this to work...

It should let you to the content if you are subscribed and logged in - if not they are in breach of the portability law. I'm using another streaming service from another EU country this way (not QPR related unfortunately)

Fark me - I pay over £500 for my S/T just for home games. £115 equates to around 3 quid a match

yeh it should do... i just suspect that no one at qpr (or its website) is in a rush to programme the workaround.
