He was a bad hire, and never good enough for this level of football.
Firstly I said 'slightly' enhanced and I stand by that.
Secondly, your opinion he was a 'bad hire' and of course you are entitled to that but I don't share it. In the big picture of things he comfortably kept us up whilst bringing through some of our young players and working in a very tight budget. For me last season was far more enjoyable than the previous one and saw us play with a real spirit, coming back from behind on many occasions. Having said all of that I do not think he could have taken us much further so I am fine with the change of manager. I found team selections baffling at times but I don't think he did a bad job overall. Just my opinion of course but the facts do bear it out somewhat.

He did a good job with the squad but 'comfortably kept us up" I disagree. The season before last only the win against Forest saved QPR and last season had he persisted with 3 at the back I am not convinced that they would have stayed up. Did he change the formation or was he ordered to?

Can I vote for the second option please?

He comfortably kept us up last season although I do not know the answer to your last question. If he was ordered to then I concede that would alter my opinion.

The League was awful last season and any other season we would have gone to the wire. Season could have been so much better if he never faffed about and we would probably ha e retained his job. but it is what it is

Don't get me wrong mate, I am not calling him the messiah but I don't think he did a bad job overall. As you say, we are where we are and will hopefully move forward.

TF has already stated in the podcast he did that IH was spoken to about his formation and player use many times so that tells me he was ordered to change it as they either saw the end of the season going badly if it stayed the same or wanted to see what the squad was capable of being treated and used differently and i have to say it improved remarkably. Not perfect by any means but you could almost see the shackles had come off and they were free to play as they can do, and were enjoying it more. Hopefully we will be free flowing this year while keeping dogged in our approach.

Are we still debating IH and his tenure here? My word. But each to their own,

Sorry Shania, think that was my fault!

I just really hope you have got this one right and we have a decent season. We won't argue anymore about Ollie and Mac but I just feel Steve McLaren has a huge task and I personally don't see him as equipped for a bottom half championship side but clearly time will tell
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I see what you mean, WeAre. We dont know anything about how we will beform, but I personally think a 4-4-2 or something like that will bring us a step closer to the kind of football we used to play; A more attacking one, and hopefully from minute one. With regards to patience, I hope our supporters will show our young team lots of it. Personally, I think we are a bit short when it comes to routine(the goalkeepers?), but we`ll see.

Maybe he is chasing a mishit backpass and now is lost.

Obviously the departure if Smithies is a step down. But lets hope Ingram and Lumley can make the step up.

Yes, we have to look forward and give them time to adapt to the pressure. I feel that both of have a good chance to play regulary. That is a plus.
