  • Quashie at fault for Scunny goal ?

I know people have been talking about whether Connlly or Gorkks was most at fault for their goal .. but I've just been watching the highlights again, and looks like Quashie initially tracks back with Thompson but then just stops, allowing Thompson to run on for an unchallenged tap in

    Harsh or Fair ?

    Fair.

If he hasn't got the engine to do that, then he should have.
Needs a bit of fitness work, Our Nigel.

      That's a too harsh.

Hill was at fault. He tried to catch Hooper offside when both his centre halves were behind him amd playng Hooper onside.

You could argue that Quashie 'lost' his man, but if Hill had stayed goalside, the attack could very well have been ended there and then with a tackle.

I thought the same thing. If he goes with the player they don't score. It's just lazy. Players need to be shown their errors by the manager and told in no uncertain terms what happens if they don't give everything for the team.

From what I saw, both Hill and Gorkks had the man on the left (Hooper I think) offside by some distance but Connolly in the centre was deemed to be playing him on. Both Gorkks and Hill were then caught a bit flat footed when Hooper continued his run into the box without the flag going up.

Quashie definitely at fault for me. It was his man, he let him run past him and made only half hearted attempts to catch him.

Very poor fitness levels at the moment. Good passing but needs to sharpen up.

I'm a great admirer of Matt but unfortuntely if he had been in line with Gorkks and Hill then Hooper would have been offside and no goal. From the point that he didn't step up then everyone was fault.

The Scunthorpe scorer (not Hooper was it?) ran through our defence from behind Quashie, can't see where offside could have been called even if Hill had kept the line.

The initial pass was to Hooper, who collected the pass and crossed the ball, so had the offside trap worked he would have been offside and Quashie's fitness levels would not be the issue.

On viewing it again, I have to change my answer.

Hill was not at fault, he and Gorkss pushed up and it was Connolly who played Hooper onside.

Quashie switched off to allow Thompson to score. I don't think it is down to fitness, but more likley that he stopped thinking and took his eye off Thompson.

I expect both Connolly and Quashie to make amends by playing a great game at Peterboro and helping QPR to win 3 points. And then the same again against Ipswich and Coventry:greedy:;D

We lost the game because we didn't create any chances and never looked like scoring.
