Surprised, I thought you was going to come out with the line

      " he was building soemthing"

After the fine record Dowie had, puts that into prespective

          Made me chuckle to myself
          Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
          And many more mistakes

Not much to chose between them really.

If you are 7th one point off the play offs in february, then you would expect come April still to be close, if thats what you mean.

Answer his question. Points or Wins. What is more important in a league? Yes or No? No need to be childish or some sort of wannabe Lawyer just do it. Nothing scary about it.

I'm doing that now with Sousa

                    Not re-wrting history

                    0 wins in 9 games

                    February..Not One WIN

                    Level with 6th Place 27th January 2009

10 points off the play off by the time we drew to Southampton 0-0 away 14th March 2009

                    Writtler, what happened??

It's a simple question. Are points or wins more important at the end of the season?

davidla. maybe you can answer me as Writtler is swerving it

What happened between 27th January 2009 and March 14th 2009?

Pete - let's just have a look at league games shall we:-

Dowie 41.67% win ratio, Sousa 30.43%

However - loss rate Dowie 33.33% Sousa 21.74%..

Those 9 games weren't very clever Pete but Sousa realised that he had been handed a badly assembled unbalanced squad that had it's limitations and was planning for the following season - the squad got found out pure and simple.

Many of us don't hail him as the messiah as you seem to think we do but could see what he was trying to do and rue the fact the campaign that started when senior members of staff started calling him a ****(note to moderators that is a direct quote so ban him as well as me please) could see us live to regret the one that got away. It wasn't pretty football but there was a vision.

One more stat for you in league games Dowie averaged 1.5 points per game from his brief period, Sousa averaged 1.49 (sorry ha I make it 34 points from 23 games) hardly any difference - spin that..

Pete - I was referring to the 2 sets of stats. I was just trying to convince you that haqpr's stats are more relevant than yours.
                            Finally, you have agreed

Furthermore you state "he [PS] didn't get many points" but the facts show he got as many per game as your beloved LDC. So if they had the same points per game, why would you like a manager [LDC] who also - logically - "didn't get many points per game"?

Yes, PS didn't do well in that period. But that was not my point. You need to discuss that with Writtler. I haven't argued that PS was a great manager - just that if you are going to talk about stats, discuss the most relevant ones.

I Would agree with that, if he had not started off well.

the squad cannot become unbalanced from 27th January, we only really brought in Routledge/. It became unbalanced because he was trying everything from playing one front to not to lose games as opposed to go out and win them, thats a big difference
