Of course he can refuse to leave as he is under contract to QPR not Newcastle. I aint saying we aint touted him around once he showed a desire to move, so I would say it is more his agent than us. He jumped at the chance and fair play to him. He will end up in the Prem for a while before dropping down again.

The point I am trying to make is this, someone must be instigating a deal to buy him from QPR. His agent would know what Newcastle wanted to pay for him and what the wages would be..

Okay The board could say No Deal, but its gonna be attractive to them if he has been bought for £300,00 and now Newcastle will go 1.5 million plus add ons?? Surely this kind of activity unsettles the player and he would want out anyway??

He join a much better club that are going places.

It is a brilliant move for him and one that doesn't need to be discussed.

You can't expect him to stay at Macdonald's when he can become a dentist
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

This. For whatever reason,no problem with that. But lets be clear the club SOLD him.If they did not want to sell him they did not have to,player has little choice if NOT for sale

Pete,it is a good profit, especially with finances in football at the moment, but hardly shows ambition to fans or players does it?

I don't blame him for leaving a sinking ship because he has no loyalty to us. I don't believe for one second he was bought for £300k though and as for £1.5m with add-ons - nope, doubt it.

Although hard to swallow, this is very true. What QPR player would not take this move?

Yes the club sold him as he was ours to sell, but my belief is he got his agent to sniff around and we then jumped on it.

                        Again, no loss.

Bighoop, difference is you are blaming the club.

Yes, your right it shows no ambition and sends the wrong signal to the fans. We sell one of our best players, but he had another 18 months left on his contract?? I doubt the club instigated the move, they have accepted it, but why didn't Routledge wait until the summer for example?

the club could have tried harder to keep him....but with the boards lack of ambition it was a no go........
also with this sale shows i wasn't mad with my bottom 6 prediction......think more players will want out......then the loan players at season end....what will be left.

Had more than 18 months left, and why did the club accept the deal? WR had played well enough to attract other clubs who obviously enquired as to his being for sale,at that point over to the club....in fact this happened at Spurs but they consistently said "not for sale"
