Today confirms to me that the four year plan to make QPR a PL club has finally been accepted by the Flav as a spectacular failure.
The fact that one of our best, if not the best player has been sold to a club genuinely desperate to get the PL says it all to me. Flav has realised that the whole thing has been a failure and is now trying to back out quietly whilst trying to re-coup some money back on his investment.
What is really disappointing is that he really could've had made the whole thing a success had he not such a humongous ego. Because of this he has meddled in team selection (Flav knows best), sacked numerous managers that have dared question his superior football knowledge, (Manager with lifetime in football vs Owner who has never followed the game) and alienated the fans with price hikes followed by massive investment in parts of the club that normal fans cannot afford.
In fact perversely the only reason that Flav is still here is that very same ego, as he is desperate not to be seen as a failure in front of all his friends.
What is going on now is a number of attempts by his PR people to negotiate a smooth exit strategy away from the destruction of the club. That is why you have seen concocted stories about him potentially becoming Juventus president, stories about more FIA (I was forced out....!) and stories of foreign investors being interested in his stake ( at a profit of course, how could I refuse.)
I'm not sure what will happen next, we as fans can only hope that the Mittals are sufficiently in love with the club (unlikely) to want to buy Flav out. I personally think we will be sold to another group of investors and Mittals will possible sell to as well.
By the way does anyone know why the Mittals have been so quiet. Long gone are the days when Amit was sent out by the website to make some statement to appease the fans. Strange?
