sounds like a good signing, but lets hope we either get a new right back, or legs/connolly come in for ramage - who for me is well below the standard of the championship

Rangers Chief Executive Mark Devlin has expressed his disappointment after negotiations to bring Bristol City's Matt Hill to QPR hit a brick wall.

The 23-year-old left sided defender was due to begin talks at Loftus Road after both sides agreed a fee for his services.

But the deal now looks much less likely to take place following a change in the west country Club's demands.

"We offered the £100,000 fee that Bristol City asked for and an initial agreement was reached," Devlin explained.

"The stumbling block is a potential sell-on fee which City increased only after we received verbal assurances that our bid was satisfactory.

"We are a little disappointed that the goalposts have been shifted at the last minute and at this stage we are considering our position."

Hill is a tough-tackling defender who can play at left back or in the centre.

He was voted Player of the Year by the Bristol City Supporters Club in 2002.
He can play in the centre aswell!! Oh my god, here we go again. Knowing our habit of playing people out of positions We will never see him as a fullback then..:beaten::beaten::beaten::beaten::beaten::bea ten::beaten:

He is about 5 ft 8inches.

No chance of him playing centre back.

Has always look defensively sound whenever I have seen him play.
15 years in the wilderness will be a distant memory come Sunday 8th May 2011.

Very good signing, reminds me of a mix of Paul Parker and Clive Wilson. Saw him a few times at Bristol a few years back and he was the star of their side.

Apparently he made 3 appearances in the Premiership this season at Wolves, does anyone know how he did?

He made 2 and they lost 3-0 to Man Utd and 3-1 to Blackburn.

If you all remember, Hill himself refused to join QPR from Birtol City and opted to join PNE when we were in Division 2 (the old League 1). How pity now he is excited to join us when he found no chance of first team football.

At the time of joining Preston he did say that he thought Preston were better prepared for his Premiership ambitions. My thoughts about him then were probably the same as many people on here BUT --- the truth hurts!!!

To be fair it was just player sound-bites.

He was quality for Preston in their recent good play off ending campaigns and decent for Wolves as well.
I think he's not getting in Wolves side as they have a pure quality player called Keith Fahey in there????

All that aside -- a decent addition and let's hope he can do that "talking and organising" that Harford mentions.

                      Good luck Mr Hill

Well we needed a left back badly as Borrowdale is more of a league 1 player.... how we managed this long without one is beyond me so I guess it's better than nothing... I Hope Mick can get the best out of him.

I hope we sign a right back as Ramage is definately a league 1 player, however, i won't hold my breath...

                            I'm very pleased with Hill.

                            Honest, I am.

I don't want to turn this into a GP debate but what has he done well exactly. We've signed another left back because this manager like the one before him isn't keen on the last left back that GP signed (Borrowdale). The one before that was sold to Ipswich (Delaney) because he wasn't rated and the one before that struggles to game a game at Plymouth (Barker).
