Perhaps its always been madness at QPR

With regard to RT - yes hindsight is a wonderful thing. Remember then though, times were different - we'd finished 5th in the Premier League and were 7th when Thompson decided to sell Pea**** to Newcastle. If Pea**** had stayed and Thompson just taken the same sort of risk Bates did in getting in Gullit, I truly believe, no exaggeration here, we had a decent chance of actually getting into the top 3 or even winning the damn thing. Things were much more even back in 93/94.
God - i remember seeing ned Zelic i think V Wimbledon...he was poor...

and Yes Nodge - seeing as in season 92 - we were top london club..I know because i have the t shirt still:boss: - Where did it all go so wrong ?

Thta was my only real gripe about the Thompson family. They had the funds to take QPR up a level, but preferred to sell players to balance the books.

Perhaps if they had looked into improving capacity, a new ground etc and spending some money on additions to a good team, QPR could have been challenging for honours instead of going down.

I agree the players like Seaman, Parker, Sinton, Pea**** & Ferdinand left to join bigger clubs, but perhaps if the Thompsons showed more ambition, these players would have stayed.

Often, businesses have to speculate to accumulate, but the Thompsons who could afford to do so, didn't. Perhaps it was because they never really wanted a football club. I seem to recall they got the club as part payment after David Bulstrode died.

Thompson - Run a tight ship, left us in 1996 as one of only two clubs (+ Man U) not in debt.
Wright - Spent more money than he had, left us in administration.

            Which was the biggest evil?

Yes, we finished 5th but were 21 points off the top - we were never going to close that.

We had a usual shocking spell October through to January. Just needed a guiding hand through that period. I think Villa fell way short of Utd in 2nd place too.

Also, in 83/84 when we finished 5th we were only 7 points off the leaders, but I never hear anything about Jim Gregory showing no ambition to push us higher. Instead, he sold Clive Allen to Tottenham.

It wasn't shocking at all during October to January, check the scores. Feb and March weren't too hot.
