Biggest crowd V Brighton

2002-2003 crowds of 11,000 V Swindon, Colchester, Barnsley etc etc,

picked up towards end of season, when it looked like were going to get promoted..

2003-2004 crowds picked up t around 12-13,000, on the back of a good previous season

2004-05.. crowds picked up again, solely because we were in the championship and no other reason then having some glory hunters, that never came in Division 1, but obviously playing teams like Millwall and West ham at home very appealing

Since then the crowds have been pretty similar year in year out.. So, when supporters say the crowds were bigger it was because we were in the championship for the first time after years in the wilderness. The same would happen in the premiership....watch this space

Why is it a myth? We can all read and the biggest fact of all is that we averaged no more than 11-12,000 when in the top league.

What's your point? That we are unsustainable at this level with our self generated income? Well, duh, yeah, I think we all know that.

So, all hail the Savious for arranging a bill that we can't afford and saddling it with us? Er, don't think so.

With the money they have spent we could be going in the right direction if someone competent had spent the money. They appear to have spent a lot recruiting players and firing managers and yet we are no stronger than when De Canio was in charge and probably weaker in depth when you take the loanees out.

Get your argument right and stick to it Pete. Maybe we couldn't survive at this level with the Italian, but personally I'd rather we balanced the books and found our level OR had these survivors actually invest the difference instead of (inevitably) wanting it back when they finally admit they got things wrong...

And for all the stick Abramovich gets, he recently converted ALL the ****'s debt into equity. Meaning the club isn't saddled with the bill for expensive mistakes like Scolari, it impacts on the value of his shareholding instead.

Can we expect Flav to do the same to cover the cost of all the managers he didn't sack, as well as the one he did?

I don't get to that many away games these days due to work, but I think its been very noticeable how our away support has dropped over the last 4-5 years.

11,000-13,000 in the top flight in the late 80's-mid 90s, is true. But I recall a number of clubs were struggling to fill their grounds too.

Truth is, the old 1st division and early PL, were not as well supported then, as they were a few seasons ago or even now during the recession.

The PL product is far better received now, so if QPR were to go up, attendances would be at capacity levels.

If QPR were to either build a new ground or somehow, increase comfort and capacity at LR, the gates would be often be around 22-25,000, as they were in the mid 70s, or perhaps even higher, if the team was capable of challenging for the top 6.

Clubs appear to be struggling with lower attendances, as are many local pubs and clubs and also call girls are finding life hard at the moment.

Cherry picking one or two attendances is not representative. Look at the attendances throughout the calendar years of 04/05 and 06......

Additionally at the same time we were averaging 11-12,00o in the top flight, Man U were averaging 39,000, Arsenal 22,000, Chelsea 14,000 and Fulham 4,000. Irrelevant aren't they?

what about 17000 in the 80s and regular 22000+ until all seating?

1000s over capacity v wet spam and spurs, away fans basically went onto pitch, sat on sidelines etc....

prices affecting support.
