MR PALADINI - Will people TRY to understand....

We do not know what goes on behind the scenes as fans and therefore cannot comment with any degree of authority on what influence and effect GP has positive or negative. He just happens to make an easy scape goat.
It is very frustrating not knowing who does and influences what! All we can see is things constantly going the shape of the pear. For all we know GP is just as frustrated but is working within very strict parameters set by whimsical owners. Or a lot of you could be right and he is indeed the anti-Christ!

Many clubs have Sporting directors or DOF..Just like Forest who are doing well.
The title is only there because Flavio is chairman, because of his shareholding. Reality is when football league have chairmen meetings only one person turns up and its not FlavioALL BEST BANTER AND ALL THE LATEST FROM QPR.

In reality, statisically he was the worst.ALL BEST BANTER AND ALL THE LATEST FROM QPR.

Pete - no problem with director of footballl...and yes look at Forest. The manager has stated what players he wanted( including 2 QPR rejects) the DOF then did the deals and let the manager get his players and look where they are.
At Spurs it didnt happen that way - look what happened to them.

Pleat (I assume you're referring to him) is a football advisor at Forest, and Billy Davies has never had the situation that our managers have.
But whereas QPR’s Jim Magilton is accepted as having one of the most precarious jobs in the Championship after five of his predecessors have been shown the door in the last two years, Davies sees Pleat’s task at the club as simply a friend and confidante to chairman Nigel Doughty and he is equally emphatic on his own task.
“Every manager should be allowed to manage the team,” said Davies. “Modern football is full of middle men, whatever name you give them; directors of football, general managers, football consultants. But the manager is the man that should be in control.”

And you and others know it works differently here??
The only time I can remember the DOF having full control of signings was when De canio first came.. That January we had some good ones and some bad ones admittedly, but the manager will always make the suggestion, if they are not available, then others will be discussed.
For example who wanted the Wolves keeper??
(just to add Flavio, at first definitely wanted the continental style players, Parejo, De carmine, Tomassi etc)ALL BEST BANTER AND ALL THE LATEST FROM QPR.

Nice chap, by most accounts.
He's in a different job now, and he's not qualified for that.
But, as much as I love Gerry Francis, a man who dines at the very top table of "QPR Legends".... I wouldn't want him to do that role. Nobody should do it.
So instead of the usual people defending Gianni Paladini, the person.... can they at least get their head around the fact that his role is under serious question, just as Spurs had to face up to when Comolli was finally relieved of that post at White Hart Lane. Harry would never have taken the job if Comolli, or anyone was making his choices for him.
People want a "big name manager"??? You wont get one while we have a fully involved Director of Football.
Final question:
Why was Gerry Francis so cheesed off when he looked up into the South Africa Road Stand 17 years ago, and saw Rodney Marsh sitting there being lined up for that role???
And what was his reaction to that? And does Gerry love QPR?? But even he still wouldn't put up with it.
If you know your history.... etc.
It hardly ever works, and it certainly isn't working at QPR.
Far from it.

David Pleat is a consultant and all decisions on signings are made by a committee made up of Davies, Pleat, the Chairman (Doughty) and the CEX (Arthur). No one man is responsible for the signings at Forest.

Davies will say he wants a particular player but if the committee doesn't think the player is worth the amount then Davies doesn't get his player. Better that then going out and spending £3m on Claude Davis like he did when he was in charge of Derby.
