A fitting tribute to come back from 2 down to win on the day we paid our respects to Mike Keen. It was one of the best performances of the season but I must say Sheff Wed were a poor side. How they were 2 up, I don't know! Good to see some of our midfielders and defenders scoring as well, as they have not done enough during the season.
Cerny- maybe could have done better with their first goal. Lack of communication with Mahon. But reasonable game.
Ramage- reasonable game but really needs to work on his distribution.
Gorrks- Terry Butcher! Good game.
Stewart- Solid game.
Connolly- God knows why he was put at left back when he's been playing very well at centre back in his proper position. Had a good game and nearly scored! Set some chances up as well.
Routledge- Had more freedom and really attacked their left back.
Lopez- Oozes class. Should have scored in the first half.
Mahon- Good to see him score. Probably his best game of the season. Had a huge scar on his face when I saw after the game.
Cook- Great to see him play well. Looked more confident and put some great crosses in for the goals. Well done!
Tarbat- Still young, but has lots of potential. Really winds up the away fans! Just needs to release the ball a bit quicker sometimes but great to watch.
Helgusson- How many chances does he need to score? Lacking confidence big time!
Anyway, after the game all the players went past and all looked very happy, especially Vine. Great to see him score! He changed the game when he came on.
Bernie and Paladini were both given escorts to their cars after the game by a load of bouncers!
Noticed at the end of the game that Flavio was very happy that we had won. He was cheering at the players.
Made sure I got to the game early today so I could pay my respects to Mike Keen. Haven't been that early for ages! Got there as they were reading the 'statement' out. Could not see the purpose of reading it out especially given the 'tension' of the day. Felt sorry for Billy Rice. Ultimately, we all know why De Canio left, Harford wasn't going to be given the job and Sousa was sacked for divulging confidential information.
At the end of the day Flavio and Bernie own the club and can do what they want with the club. I certainly don't agree with the way they have gone about with so many things, but I just wish they thought about things a bit more sometimes. They must have a heart beneath their 'business' minds. We all love this club and want to be a part of it. They need to be more engaging with the fans on so many issues. Bernie didn't look too happy when he was walking to his car. Hopefully, Flavio and Bernie realise now that this is club for people who have supported them for generations and want to keep doing so. I know I want to! Let's be together!
I don't know how Flavio and Bernie will take with the flak but I'm sure they realise it's part and parcel of football. Look at bigger teams like Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle where there has been a lot of recent tension between fans and owners.
Be united and we can get there!
